Another example that shows Yahoo has no idea what they are doing!

Look at the #1 ranking for "tits"... at least this is what you see in the USA

http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=tit...t&cop=mss&tab=

the title is "Penis Enhancement Pill" ... now that's fucking relevant! And it's just some damn redirect to http://www.vigrx.com/results.html

come on Yahoo! get it together and compete with google.

This is just one of many, many examples.

We will do what we can ASAP. It's just a little glitch....

Yahoo is going down the tubes if you ask me. I'd love to see their search volume since they broke off with Google if it actually stayed or dropped. I can't see it possibly going up with SERP's like these.

I too noticed some serious crap in yahoo's listings.

Third listed site for "big tits" is bignaturals.com. The url for the listing says "www.bignaturals.com". Then when you click on the link, it actually goes to a bignaturals.com link with someone's affiliate Id in it.

I agree. Unless they come up with some killer algorithms to compete with the relevancy of google's results, they can kiss the search engine business goodbye. Let's see how long they can last as a basic portal. They should know better. Search is what made them who they are and is what will keep people coming back day after day.

I hope the SE trixters wipes them out with cloaking and doorways and shit so that they get worse and worse. At least that will force change.

Ampland is #3. It's a shame to see all that SE traffic going to a site full of free porn instead of a surfer trap.

Just because you guys with link lists can't get into yahoo, you try to find reasons to bag them.

You have to admit Yahoo currently has no consistancy with their listings. It's very random and very spammy. They at least need to come up with a system and stick with it.

I admit that there is no set formula. They have so many variables.
a few of them are
what keyword is being searched.Yahoo give preference to sites in their directory for some main kw searches. e.g. "teen pussy" and "big tits"
Another is whether a site has paid for inclusion (PFI)
They also like sites with meta tags but not spammy ones.Keyword in domain also helps but mainly they like the site to be from a clean neighbourhood and they do respect backlinks from directorys including Dmoz. They also like content but having big sites auch as hoes is a disadvantage for them as they do not crawl and score pages deep within sites very quickly so age becomes a factor as well.
This is my :2 cents: on Yahoo anyway.

Yeah, their engine doesn't seem to handle redirects very well. I see multiple duplicate listings for some of my sites where TGP trades have linked through their script (which redirects). According to Yahoo, each of the http://www.somesite.com/out.php?trade=mysite.com URLs are different sites!

wouldn't it be just great if you could run that company for one week, because that's just enough to drop their stock to $5 and I could load up again.

FlyingIguana 07-07-2004 10:11 PM

i'm sure yahoo will buy some smaller search site to try and improve their listings. especially with the google ipo coming.

#1 for "facial humiliation"

#1 for "angelique leclair"

#13 for "naughty allie sample"

and used to be #1 for "will she gag" for a while too
