I was in walmart in the toy section and lo and behold a black green lantern?

There have been quite a few Green Lanterns in the many years he has been around. That particular one has been around since the 1980s and possibly even earlier.

They did the Same thing with The Punisher a few years back. i guess you just have to keep with the comiX!

He's not a new character...he's been around for like 20-30 years now. There's Alan Scott, the original green lantern, then Hal Jordon, the silver age green lantern and first member of the Green Lantern Corps from Earth. There's the redheaded jerk Guy Gardner and then there's the black dude, John Stewart.

The current Green Lanterns are Kyle Rayner (new white dude) and John Stewart (also a member of the JLA - in the comic book and the carton). Hal Jordan (green lantern from the old Super Friends cartoon) is dead. He's been dead for 10 years now.

But of course, they are bringing him back to life this fall in a mini-series called Green Lantern Reborn or some shit.

But John Stewart is not a new character...he's been around in the comic books for years and years.

John Stewart first appeared in Green Lantern Vol. 2 #87 (December 1971-January 1972). The cover artist was Neal Adams and it was two issues after the famous Speedy (Green Arrow's sidekick) was a junkie cover :thumbsup
