A short message to all IE haters.

It's not the browser, it's the OS.

PenisFace 07-06-2004 06:46 PM

I like cake

Aric 07-06-2004 06:47 PM

No, it's the person behind the keyboard.

An OS is only as secure as the fucktard behind the keyboard.

Wrong, I am seeing more and more "bright" webmasters getting hammered with exploits, if a new exploit does not trigger norton or your firewall settings you are fucked, doesn't matter how sophisticated you are.

Aric 07-06-2004 06:57 PM

I guess they aren't so bright then.

Exploits are exploits. Learn how to prevent it before it happens, and if you think that's not possible, then you aren't so bright yourself.

Not trying to flame you here, but all this time I have yet to be infected with anything noteworthy.

Exactly.

Intelligence isn't really the issue. Well, except that if you have a brain you've been using Mozilla forever . . .

iwantchixx 07-06-2004 07:15 PM

you're all idiots. seriously. Get the right tools and you NEVER get exploited, infected or hacked.

Opera+hardware firewall+NAV2003+Anti-spyware trap+COMMON SENSE = SAFETY.

Your first step is getting off IE and onto Opera. Firefox is just as retarded as IE in allowing web sites to take over your box in many instances. Second is get behind a damn hardware firewall. Next get a solid virus/exploit web trap that works on all browser platforms and is self updating.

Exactly, I don't understand why Webmasters can actually get exploited, infected or hacked. No wonder why people with no computer skills get easily fucked with all that shit on the Internet.l

Aric 07-06-2004 07:19 PM

Opera... heh. No comment.

Get a honeypot while your at it.

man, I wish it would be that easy, but there is exploits out there that only require an internet connection setup at your computer and like I said, if the exploit is not known to your protection software you are fucked no matter how smart you are.

how come I never get infected or exploited? I am behind a hardware fierewall so most exploits dont even have a chance to even reach my actual NIC and ones that do are quickly blocked. I have serious security going on here.

As for browser based exploits and hijacks... Opera + "Spy Sweeper" + NAV2003 Web Trap have served me very good.

I'm using a NAT firewall, software firewall, Firefox, an e-mail client that only recieves text, and some other security programs that run in the background. Sure I could still have problems but I easily avoid the most common ones.

The worst thing I see is when people allow others to use their machines. 15 minutes later and the thing is flooded with spyware and adware. Windows right out of the box is just dangerous.
