okny 07-06-2004 01:25 PM

It aint that bad.

graphicsbytia 07-06-2004 01:26 PM

ummm... she obviously didn't do this by herself.. sounds like the communication in your house isn't the best

pierced ears isn't that bad.. just be thankful it's not a tattoo or something like that where she'd have to live with it forever

AVM 07-06-2004 01:27 PM

Stop being so fucking dramatic. A good majority of moms, get their daughters ears pierced at infantcy.

People should decide for themselves if they want piercings.

Why hurt a baby for no reason? It has no vanity yet.
Who does it impress? Other babies?
You're just risking infection.

doober 07-06-2004 01:40 PM

your wife is a democrat?

nice

:thumbsup

Tom_PMs 07-06-2004 01:42 PM

Yes, and up to apparently today, my wife was in full agreement.

and now my wife has resorted to using the "She wanted them" routine.

Tom_PMs 07-06-2004 01:54 PM

Well, sorry.. that blows big time. It should take one NO to veto a major decision, and two YES to approve. The child doesnt vote until she's 18.

XBizLori 07-06-2004 01:56 PM

my daughter is almost 4 and came home from preschool and said
"Whatever!" when I asked her something

yikes, starting already.

loverboy 07-06-2004 01:58 PM

way to young for that don't you think?

digi 07-06-2004 02:00 PM

MinX 07-06-2004 02:01 PM

She can always let them heal over when she's old enough too decide.... they can look cute.. providing earrings are small

Uhh that would be the case if she walked in herself, however, her mother took her there and that is all the permission they need...lol

Tom_PMs 07-06-2004 02:07 PM

I have to say that I dont think the real issue is the ears.

It's the fact that there was a lack of respect and deception. That shit is important. Ears will heal.

dr phil signing off :1orglaugh :glugglug

mindoza 07-06-2004 02:17 PM

don't sweat the small stuff...life is too short...your wife should of respected your opinion and waiting until she could of talked you into letting her take your daughter....I had my ears pireced at 4 almost 5..we were at the mall and we passed the piercing pogoda and I asked if i could do it...I chickened out and got down...as we left the mall I changed my mind and went up and did it...it did not hurt I remember clearly...I might of been 4 but I already knew what i wanted!

jennym 07-06-2004 02:17 PM

I would normally say "So what...big deal", but the main issue is that your wife went behind your back when she knew you were against it.

On the other hand, I was married to a guy who called it "trashy" when I got mine pierced the second time. So, when it came time to get my daughters ears pierced, I didn't listen to him either.:1orglaugh

sounds like you lost control of your own home

if your wife took her in - than she doesnt respect you by letting her get it without consulting

if your girl just went ahead.. she doesnt respect you and somehow got the money to get it done. surprised that anyone would allow her to do it without parents being around.

either way dude - if it was your wife.. then you respond by getting her to have her clit pierced or tongue

as far as your daughter goes.. take out the pin and everything and have it heal up.

johnbosh 07-06-2004 02:31 PM

Actually not. I had my ears pierced when I was a baby, and used earings through my whole childhood. Now, I haven't used earrings for the past 5 years, and the holes haven't closed, and I guess it never will. I still can put earrings if I choose so.

Anyway, I don't think it's a big deal. It's not a scar or anything. You can hardly see it!

I agree. It's fairly common. And I definitely don't think it's the big, traumatic deal that a lot of people in this thread are making it out to be. How many women do you know that claim to be physically or emotionally scarred because their moms got their ears pierced when they were little? :1orglaugh

I doubt it hurt. You don't have a lot of nerves in your earlobes anyway, esp as a baby. I think the younger you do it, the better. They get used to it from the beginning and the fact is, most girls do want and end up with their ears pierced.

You wanna talk painful shit? Ever see a baby get a vaccination?? :helpme

Tuna 07-06-2004 02:39 PM

oh thank god. i was expecting something worse.. dont worry man youll get over it... :thumbsup

Jason 07-06-2004 03:30 PM

not cool on the wife's part.

candyflip 07-06-2004 03:33 PM

My cousin just had her 6 month old's ears pierced. My grandmother did all of theirs and my little sisters when they were all that same age. I don't see anything wrong with it.

What wasn't cool was that your wife didn't bother to consult you prior to doing it.

He's a man. He's married to a women. Any control he has or had was just percieved. When it comes down too it, the woman usually has the control in the relationship...whether we like it or not. :winkwink:
