'Candid' Photo Sites...Legal?
Recently a chick friend of mine had someone email her and say they saw her on this random 'candid' website.
Browsing around I see theres lots of sites like this, mainly in the non-nude scene which simply features hot girls 'personal photos', stolen from public online photo albums like yahoo and webshots, and profiles on sites like myspace and friendster. Anyways, my question - since the websites using these photos obviously didnt take the photos themselves, and the girls didnt agree to be featured on the site. But are they legal to use anyway because they had been posted publicly already? Or can these people be sued for re-publishing the material and profiting from it? Discuss. |
If it's illegal, then she can ask a lawyer to take a look !

With very few exceptions, the person who takes the photo owns the copyright on the photo. Since they are posting copyrighted material without the permission of the copyright holder, what they're doing is illegal.

candid is ok if you take the pics yourself, i doubt what they're doing is legal tho
