**urgent Help Please Read!!!**

Hey

I'm having some fucking trouble here, apparently my server recognizes html page names like "ExAmple" diffferent from "example", i'm getting a ton of 404 traffic from my gals and in high risk of losing some great partner accounts.

Anyone knows how to fix this?

Thanks ppl!

Is it an NT or Unix Server?

UNIX operating system (and all it's variants) is case sensitive.

ALWAYS use lower case in file names, ALWAYS.

And don't use any spaces and crap in the file names/diretories... Use old school "DOS" type rules and not that new fangled Windows file naming.

Sounds like you'll have to go in and very quickly duplicate files to the other "case" ASAP.

can't man, already tried... the server recognizes it as the same file via ftp, it's weird

StuartD 07-05-2004 01:05 AM

Most servers are set up that way. Why would you submit galleries with capital letters different than what your files are anyway?

That's not the trouble man, the trouble is that many tgp scripts are setted up to turn capital letters off, i'm submitting 'em with the right path and stuff, so as i'm getting instant approval with 'em, gals get posted right away without being checked by anyone.

That's strange unless you're FTP is changing the case as well... Guess you'll have to get into the shell and do it by hand.

Adult Site Traffic 07-05-2004 08:09 AM

Man, you should have never made galleries like

www.GallerySite.com/GalleryPage.HTML

Stay away from that shift key on a unix server.

I have a server side search and replace script if you need it. Let me know and I'll point you to where you can get one.

He's probably set to convert filenames in FTP.

rowan 07-05-2004 08:12 AM

If you want to upload a lowercase only copy, try a different FTP client. You're probably uploading from a case insensitive OS (like Windows) so the FTP client assumes the same.

Maybe this will help...

"How to avoid problems with case-sensitive URL's on UNIX-servers"
