She calls my 800 number, thinking I am cingular phone service... Tells me to stop leaving messages on her answering machine ...

I try nicely to tell her I am not Cingular and am in fact in Canada: she starts screaming and cursing at me !!!!!

I told her:

Had another one last week like that, and her son called me to bich!! All Cingular...

The 800 # to my cell used to get calls from people asking for garbage cans - industrial size ones. I had to tell atleast 1 person a week to PFO...i feel for ya

I get phone calls everyday for a local garage, just saw his big sign with my phone number on it, as i was there i stopped in and told him about it, asked him to remove it, he said you know how much that cost to change. I said no problem everyone that calls me I will tell them a number to another garage. Still annoying as hell.

Ha.. yeah I had a 1800 number.. used to get a lot of calls from people wanting to buy flowers.

Really annoying getting wrong numbers when it's you that has to pickup the tab.

That guy is an idiot, should have sold him your phone number. cheaper that a remake on the sign maybe.

You can get you number changed. Better yet, that sounds like a good one for the local news.

A friend of mine had his put it a magazine once by mistake about 2 or 3 months before Xmas, he was getting page after page of fax's for orders. some of the orders were form big companies. He kept running out of Fax paper.:1orglaugh it was funny 2 me but not him.

That 800 they put the magazine (BY mistake) was his main business number.

Any way honey baked ham's gave him a bunch of hams 3 or 4 times and paid his phone bill, they would send Fed-X by every day 2 pick up the orders. Many days he would get over
$ 10,000.00 of orders.

You could tell this by a phonecall.. it must have been a picture phone :1orglaugh

You should be more polite, you have a recycled 800 # how is the caller supposed to know?

We got a phone number that was associated with a closed down rape center. The calls were sad. Even though, we tried to say you have the wrong phone and call this number, the callers were too hysterical and shared their story. After a week, we changed our number.

When changing the number, I explained why and I was a little upset since I already had letterhead and business cards printed, but I thought the number should be deleted or go to a rape crisis center. A few weeks later, my local phone service sent a letter thanking me and to contact another rape center since they could not give out my information.

I called and the director said thank you for the phone #, apparently the phone rep called up a few rape centers in our area asking if they wanted the number. The director said they didn?t have much of a budget but could pay some money for the losses I occurred. I asked if they were nonprofit, and if so, I just send me receipt for services rendered for taxes, which they did.

Funny I didn?t do anything but got a known number and the phone rep took the initiative. Now, if someone could tell the lumber company that their area code is wrong and please prints up some new invoices and tell the local yellow pages that there is a misprint to a major bank and I don?t speak Spanish, I would be a happy camper.
