X Men 3: No Halle? FANTASTIC FOUR MOVIE.... Will They Fuck It Up Or Make A Hit?

I'm a die-hard old time Fantastic Four fan. Problem is they haven't been interesting for almost 20 years. Now they're making a movie about them and am wondering if there are any fans left who care. Check out the cast of the new flick. Who are these people?

"
Handbag.com reports that Halle Berry will not be back for a third "X-Men" movie because her character, Storm, isn't going to be in it enough. According to their insider, "Halle was ready to do X-Men 3, but only if Storm was given more storyline, but the studio sees the third movie as a means to wrap up the trilogy, and that means Storm won't be featured more than Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. Halle has now passed on the third movie because she's not into bit-parts. She's an Oscar winner and she wants roles that test her". As a result, producers are now apparently looking to singer and actress Christina Milian as a possible replacement

In more solid news, Latino Review has learned that "Not Another Teen Movie" & "Cellular" star Chris Evans has been offered the role of Johnny Storm (aka. The Human Torch) in Fox's "The Fantastic Four". Tim Story wants Evans and that he loved him so much that he apparently offered him the role right there on the spot.

The final list now according to the most solid rumours seems to be Ioan Gruffodd ("Horatio Hornblower", "King Arthur") as Mr. Fantastic, Rachel McAdams ("The Notebook", "Mean Girls") as Susan Storm, Chris Evans as Johnny Storm, and Michael Chiklis (TV's "The Shield") as Ben Grimm. An official announcement is due any moment. "

They should ask Colin Powell to replace her.. He's a good actor/comedian

I don't know about the Fantastic four, but X-Men without Halle Berry? it will never be the same.

Storm was always my least favorite X-Men character, they're about to get into the Phoenix (jean gray) story line anyway, so they could easily spend 2 movies on that and noone who didnt read the comic would have any idea what was going on. So the omission of Storm isnt that big of a deal, i'd rather see more of the cooler X-Men such as:

Archangel
Havok
Colossus
Gambit

my :2 cents: though.

Since Wolverine made The X-Men movies, it only seems natural that they would want more of him in the third one. His name means ACTION. I am not a huge Wolverine fan and I love Storm in the comics back in the 1980s. The problem with The X-Men is that there are so many characters to deal with that three movies are just not enough to cover them all. Could a Storm solo movie work? No, because she's part of a team. The movies do play up on the fact that the X-Men are a team and Wolverine is struggling to find himself.

The new Fantastic Four movie has to be done right this time. The last one was done by Roger Corman (yes, the king of b-movies) for $2 million and shelved as being a disgrace. The new movie supposedly has a much higher budget.

Chris Evans looks like a teen but I hope he dyes his hair blond for Johnny Storm. I also hope they do not get a dumb blonde for Susan Storm. She was no pushover in the comics. Everyone is hoping that Michael ("The Shield") Chiklis gets the part of Ben Grim. Hell, he looks the part. They could the same route with the make-up/costume like they did in Hellboy.

I am still waiting for the Captain America and Wonder Woman movies myself. The new Batman movie is going to rock. Have you seen the photo of Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon? Wow, finally we get a smart looking Police Commisioner.

I hope the next Captain America movie is better than the last one...

Christopher Nolan, the dude who did "Memento" is directing the new Batman flick. He also did "Insomnia" with Robin Williams and DeNiro, it will either rock, or it will suck.

cant be any worse than tommy lee jones as two-face though.

By the way Spider-Man 2 pretty much exceeded my expectations by 1000%

While we're on the subject of Marvel comics movies, I caught several minutes of "Daredevil" last night.

It sucked bad.

Yup, it was pretty bad. Affleck is overrated.

Daredevil had a cool part that most superhero movies dont.

Basically, daredevil didnt have invulnerability, so he was hurting all the time, doped up on pain killers etc.

Like in Spider-Man 2 you see Spider-man fall from the top of a sky scraper and land head first on the pavement, he just gets up and does whatever ya know.

I liked seeing a human "super hero" but aside from that daredevil sucked, yes.

I'd like to see a HUGE-budget trilogy for the Silver Surfer, script adapted directly from the story in the first 100 issues.

Those comics rocked.

If this new Fantastic 4 movie is true to the comic, it should be great.

Let us hope that it is.

Jamdin 07-04-2004 10:12 PM

I really did not like the red leather costume for Daredevil and the actor was totally miscast. I did like Bullseye.

Yeah, the Captain America tv movies sucked. Two movies in the 1970s had Reb Brown as a bike-riding Cap. The later tv-movie had Matt Salinger in a better costume but he had fake ears. The acting was actually worse than the earlier version. I won't even mention the Captain America serial of the 1940s ;)

badmrfrosty 07-04-2004 10:15 PM

heh, if you dont like daredevil's casting, you really didnt like Kingpin's :-)

I really like the dude from OZ as J. Jonah Jameson on Spider-man though, that guy is funny.

Producers of these movies just need to get one thing through their heads:

Stay true to the comic.

It's all in there, the look, the feel of the story, the atmosphere, the plot, the look of the characters, the personal struggles and torment of the hero etc etc. It's all in the comic.

Producers: follow the fucking comic.

Jamdin 07-04-2004 10:19 PM

I actually enjoyed Kingpin in the movie since he had the attitude.

I'll just wait for the result when it's finally out.
