Naw classic flick...Natalie Portman's first role ever and she did a helluva job.

The first time I saw it, it bothered me a little, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one :)

Just because you're in porn doesn't mean that you have to keep your mind in the gutter and try to correlate everything that deals with young girls to some sort of hidden pedophilia. It was a classic VIOLENT dramatic movie and even with my perverted mind, that kind of scenario never even crossed my mind....He was trying to protect the young innocent CHILD from the bad guys.

Damn some of y'all are twisted..Go outside and get a breath of fresh air and stop thinking of everything in real life in GFY terms.

edit...I've seen the movie like four times and nothing sexual was even HINTED in that movie...But yet there are still people who are wanting to have something going on between the dude and the girl..

I understand the european cut is considerably different than what the U.S. version is like.

Ya, I really liked it. I would love to get ahold of a european copy.

The European version is called "Leon" and in fact fuck it .. I am going to watch it now ..

Natalie Portman is portrayed as a sex object in that film, not an "innocent child." She prances around in a tight little t-shirt with her breast buds poking out, then sings "Like a Virgin."

This isn't my dirty mind, since the European version is an "overtly pederastic love story"

It's a movie that shows even the worst of people are really good people deep down inside. Sometimes it just takes a little something for them to realize it.

New classic movie! I've loved it since it came out. Also always thought Natalie Portman was hot, but we're about the same age. I def. gotta check out the euro ver.

He wasn't into her, but she was into him - confusing the father figure with love as young girls often do. There was nothing sexual hinted at, at least not in the American version. Just her wanting to be a grown up and doing all the things she thought grown ups do - smoking, shooting people.. all that stuff. It wouldn't really have worked with her wearing below the knee dresses and tights. She was growing up too fast in a crappy life.

It seemed even in the American version there is a weird sexual tension not just from her but just a weird vibe throughout. But it is also extremely cut in comparison to the European version where it's straight forward what's going on. I don't think you can say anybodys mind is in the gutter or worked in porn to long and take everything wrong. The movie was made to portray a love story between them and us Americans can't deal with that so we had to get that all cut out and even in that version it gives us an odd feeling.
