His family immagrated to the US in the 80's I think from Lebanon ( or maybe Syria). When he first dissapeared they thought he deserted and was headed back. No pun intended :1orglaugh

The rumor I have heard is the guy's family is from Lebanon and he's a translator but still in the U.S.M.C. (contractor?!?) The sargent in the platoon got misted by a 81mm shell and it fucked this dude up, started writing home that he wants out, etc.

He made a deal with the local Iraqis on the base to get him out of Iraq and back into Lebanon, but they sold him out, and now he's sitting in the boat he is.

Mind you this is the rumor I keep hearing, your mileage may vary...
