Post a pic of your work area: Here's mine [Pics] ..
I just had these "desks" built to fit into an area in our new house that we wanted to use as a work area. We don't like to be closed in, so this works nice.
+ I can grab my laptop and be out on the deck in 5 seconds. The tops were built from solid logs of beetle-kill doug fir and weigh about 200 pounds each. I had 3 cord holes drilled in each one because cords just drive me bananas and I'm far enough gone already anyhow :) The legs are peeled and fitted beetle-kill lodge pole pine. No they're not crooked, but I can't find an angle to get a shot of the area w/ the legs 'looking' straight. Server is hooked to the router in the back corner, my wife's machine is wired and the other 2 machines are wireless still and hitting 1 Mbps. Those look really nice..personally...I need drawers...cubby thingies to keep stuff in. The minimalist look is awesome...but I couldn't handle it personally. Our office is sort of the same concept as yours with the double work areas...but ours are modern with the drawers, cubby things etc. Although we paid almost $2,500 a piece for them I would actually like to redo the office and get rid of them. Why? Because there is someone on the board who's office is above their garage like ours is..their ceiling slope, window placement, size is exactly like ours and they had all custom made cabinets built to fit the space. Hubby and I are totally in love with it and although ours is great...we can't stopo thinking about what they did...we like it much better...so we plan on doing something similar in the next year or so.

Wow that is really nice bro! Hey did you build those desks or were they bought as is? Was not sure by your post if you made them or they were simply purchased. Please ICQ me so I can get some info on some of that furniture.
Thanks! Joe B |
sorry i flew my balloon so close to your house but i was just trying to get a closer look at your new desk setup:glugglug

They were built by a custom home and furniture place about 50 miles from here, they only work with logs. Even the houses they build, they assemble them at the mill and then take them apart and put them up on the owners property. I can give you the info and I think they have a site. I'll have to find the url, I've never been to it. AST |

Well, really AST and me DO need cubbies and drawers, but this minimalistic way forces us to keep up appearences for company that noses around :)

THAT's because, my MX 700 wasn't portable enough and I bought another logitech mouse and took the guts out and made a receiver-only unit for my MX 700 without the docking station to have to tag along :) |

I see no reason why you couldn't build some really nice ones. |
Wait... the tops of the desks are one solid piece?!
