I'm no dummy, but I can't remove this spyware.. HELP!

My family decided to do what they do and download shit that they don't know what it is. Very nice. So now I have to clear this all off.
But this spyware is resilliant!

res://hsbbz.dll/index.html

That's what I get when I open IE.
How can I remove this? I looked through all my index.html files (like 1,500 on my HD) and searched for hsbbz.dll with no luck.

Any ideas? Searchbot didn't remove it either.

Lookout your registeries one by one maybe you will find something :")

I have six spyware removal programs...although they help, they couldn't get rid of it permanantly....try this
Turn off your system restore.
You have to disable the active desktop, but it has to be done via the registry. That's the spyware porngraph uses.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer
Add a DWORD value called NoActiveDesktop and set the data to 1.
Restart, you're set.
Also I have a program that you have to pay for but it worked for me..I keep saying it but nobody believes me.
No Spy Xtreme

ZanyCash Larry 07-02-2004 07:15 PM

got to ad-aware.com & download the program and run.

wyldblyss 07-02-2004 07:19 PM

I got one that I could not get rid of. I tried almost every spyware removal program to no avail. I tried all the manual fixes I found on the net...no luck.

I finally just did a system "Restore" for the date before it first appeared on my system. It was gone.

that doesnt do shit with most of the new home page hijackers. The only advice I can offer is download Spyware Guard and enable the "Browser Hijack Protection". Each time somthing or somebody tries to change your homepage it will notify you.

Hey Brad.....I had some shit about a month ago, I tried everything everyone has mentioned and then some! Nothing worked....they would get rid of it and then everytime I restarted, it came right back!!! Drove me nuts. I finally took it to someone, they couldn't get rid of it either. Finally had to reformat! Good luck!!! :thumbsup

Tom_PMs 07-02-2004 07:23 PM

After you get it done, go into your browser security settings and raise your security higher than default. Else be ready for lots of active-x client side shit and other unhealthy organisms :(

And stop surfing for porn! It'll grow hair on your eyeballs. :)

Try running those spyware programs in safe mode and see if you can permanently remove hsbbz.dll that way. Also download highjack this and run that in safe mode. I hope that helps.

I have heard to run it in advanced mode though because it finds alot more spyware. Takes alot longer but definetly works better.
