i use both, but firefox alot faster thats for sure.

TheWildcard 07-02-2004 01:17 PM

Yes, Firefox is better than Opera.

Btw, once Firefox is the most used browser, people will start coding spyware for it. This is the internet.

ModelBuffet 07-02-2004 01:19 PM

ok that's it I"m downloading it right now

woj 07-02-2004 01:21 PM

Firefox is awesome :thumbsup

pornstar 07-02-2004 01:22 PM

wvuatl 07-02-2004 01:23 PM

Do you know if the Google toolbar works with that?? Or something similar?

Phoenix 07-02-2004 01:23 PM

loverboy 07-02-2004 01:23 PM

very, very true !!

Not Working 07-02-2004 01:25 PM

The tech guy from Slate.com was saying that there are not that many viruses that go after Firefox. BTW, slate.com is owned by microsoft corp.

I installed firefox this morning. It takes all the favorites and other info right out of IE so there is virtually no setup time. The program runs much faster than IE.

Should have done this before.

There is http://www.prgooglebar.org

I haven't tried it though, so use it at your own risk....

fuzebox 07-02-2004 01:41 PM

"Slowly"?

:1orglaugh

The Mozilla team slaughtered IE years ago.

Saint Nick 07-02-2004 01:43 PM

I have the google toolbar installed on my Mozilla. It works nice. The new version even has PR now, but it takes it a little while to pull up the PR.

I give mozilla in general a big :thumbsup

Cool, thanks... their site looks pretty scary

The Truth Hurts 07-02-2004 01:44 PM

doesn't anyone else realize that no matter who is on top, they are going to be the target..

if firefox were suddenly the standard, tomorrow there'd be 500 exploits for it.

NickHimself34 07-02-2004 01:45 PM

I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't put tabbed browing into IE yet. Mozilla's browsers have had it for a while, and that feature alone is worth downloading it. The new IE has a built-in pop-up blocker (like Mozilla has had for a long time) but nothing great to help it forge ahead of the competition.

Lace 07-02-2004 01:46 PM

I just installed Opera because of all of this fucking spyware and what not...Im going to check into firefox though right now.

TurboTrucker 07-02-2004 01:46 PM

It seems pretty cool, the scrollbar sucks ass though - can't see the damn thing.

The Bootyologist 07-02-2004 01:50 PM

I need to check it out..

sexsup 07-02-2004 01:50 PM

Firefox rocks, IE has to be heavily updated to compete

ModelBuffet 07-02-2004 01:51 PM

I just installed it.. MAN what a difference. this is WAY faster than the other IE crap I was using

unfortunately this is true. maybe the Firefox guys are ahead of the curve and are making it spyware proof.

i'm done with IE - except i'm still using Outlook Express.

michaelw 07-02-2004 01:55 PM

Anyone who uses firefox over MyIE2 is truly retarded

Is MyIE2 based on the IE engine?

Lace 07-02-2004 02:35 PM

Ok just installed firefox..don't like it.

Opera was taking up 132mb ram, firefox 40-/+mb ram...

But when im listening to music and click a button or try to go to a new page it stops winamp for a second...opera never did that:(

TurboTrucker 07-02-2004 02:35 PM

That's weird.

Couple things that should be standard are paste and go http://extensionroom.mozdev.org/more-info/pasteandgo and mouse gestures
http://texturizer.net/firefox/extensions/#mousegest

edit better way go tools-extensions

Tempest 07-02-2004 02:49 PM

Been using Opera 7.51 now for a few days. I'm very "hard" on browsers and during the day I end up opening several hundred pages.

I still can't get used to the tabbed browser.. Makes me feel.. "constrained" or something. But I've noticed some weird problems like graphics not loading properly, or going to a site and the CSS file not loading and I have to refresh the page. I changed the cache setting and that may have fixed that last problem but still not sure.

It has some nice efficiency things but one of the things I'm really not liking is something really small. With IE and netscape when you clicked on a link a small box appears around it. If you come back to the page it's still there. That doesn't happen with Opera. So when you're going thru a long list of links you can't figure out where you were if you've already visited a site. Such a small thing and it's iritating the hell out of me.

The "differences" in java script are also iritating. I still have to check things in IE because the "usuall" way of doing mouseovers for example doesn't show up properly in Opera.

TurboTrucker 07-02-2004 02:51 PM

I only have 256 ram, not having any problems. www.itunes.com

RicardoB 07-02-2004 02:56 PM

That's what they said about Netscape too in th early days.

I'll believe it when i see it.

Till now my stats tell me otherwise :)

The Truth Hurts 07-02-2004 02:58 PM

is there a way to get the tabs on the bottom of the screen?

also, gfy form is much narrower in firefox.

The Truth Hurts 07-02-2004 03:01 PM

firefox should take a look at AvantBrowser and see how tabs SHOULD be implemented.

So true, and since Firefox isn't backed by an actual company so much as it is open source developers that means fixes to these exploits will take much longer.

MS has an obligation to get the fixes out very quickly.

More Booze 07-02-2004 03:06 PM

I hate that Roboform cant fill htaccess forms in Firefox.
But I mailed the "Roboform people" and they said they
where working on it. Thats good, I will switch to Firefox
when that is done.

michaelw, Avantbrowser beats the hell out of MyIE2. :)

There is alot of things I will miss in Firefox that
Avantbrowser have, but as more and more plugins come
most of the features can be replaced. :)
