Toyota Prius - 7 Month wait.

A friend of mine decided to buy one, but must wait 7 month since they are on backorder. $27,000 for one, I can see how the 60mpg is a selling point but I really feel gas prices will be dropping sometime within those 7 months. Would you buy one of these cars?

from a fuel efficency standpoint. yes its nice. but i wouldnt pay 27k for that ugly P.O.S Id rather buy a nice looking car for 20k and use the other 7k on the extra gas it takes..:)

I was reading an article in Wired. Apparently the only way you'll get 60mpg is if you drive like a grandma. If you hit the gas hard all the time, you'll be getting 30. I really don't understand who would want to drive one unless you've already got a lambo, ferrari, and escalade parked in your garage.

For some reason they don't advertise these details.

on back order my ass hell where I live they are sitting on the lot.

creegan 07-03-2004 05:55 AM

neighbor had a 2001 and got 40 something average, and then traded it for a 2004 and gets 50 something average. a big consideration is also that they don't depreciate like real cars, I think she drove it for 3 years and it ended up costing her less than 900 a year in the end. good buy, if that's your thing.

That's their target demographic. A friend of mine has one.. kind of cool how you start it though. You put like this block thing in a slot on the car and then you push a power button.

Very futuristic.
