Anyone want to give me some pointers on installing awstats?

is this for a dedicated server and if so i don't suppose you are running ensim? if you are i can help.

Yes it's dedicated, no I don't have enism. I am using H-Sphere right now.

Here's the best pointer anyone can ever give you: Read and follow the instructions. I know it sounds stupid but you'd be shocked how many people don't read documentation and then get frustrated because they can't install/use the software.

Having said that, if you've read the docs and still can't get it installed, let me know what's wrong and I will try to help you out. I've installed awstats probably 100+ times.

sorry i can't help then, i used a really good customised awstats package, that's was very easy to install but it was for ensim only.

I can follow most of the directions I have, and my host is great at helping out with the little things I can't figure out. My biggest concern before I get started is will the install affect my webalizer to the point of making it no longer usable. Also, will awstats be using any of the info resources that webalizer uses and if so, will there be a conflict?

Well, they'll both be using the same log files. Are you planning to generate stats for the same site(s) using both awstats and webalizer? If not, I don't see a problem. I haven't used webalizer in quite some time but the installation of awstats alone won't break webalizer. If you were to have awstats delete log files after it had finished with them and before webalizer could go through them, there would obviously be a little problem.

The only problem would be it would take longer to type it then to tell it, leave an icq number and Ill icq you.
