This libertarian stuff is sounding better and better all the time.

wvuatl 07-02-2004 08:29 AM

I agree

I'm thinking that within 20-30 years the Democrat will be eliminated and the 2 parties will be Republican and Libertarian.

I am trying to attend a Rally for this judge on July 17th.

Good times in California.

get out and vote, support your local libertarians and make a difference.

ModelBuffet 07-02-2004 08:41 AM

I'm surprised this party isn't more popular given their view on the topics. It just makes sense to me. Must be people are so used to checking one or the other on the boxes they don't even consider something else is an option.

I switched from Republican to Libertarian in February. I am now a proud dues paying member!

I became a Republican because I agreed with my role models, moderates like McCain and Kemp. That party has changed. It is now controlled by religious and economic groups that are firm opponents to the U.S. Constitution. I truly believe we are heading down the path set out in a book called the Handmaiden's Tale, where America is ruled by a Christian military dictatorship.

Republican Party is in reality the Dixiecrats of the 30's-70's, very conservative Southern Democrats of old. The same group that hung black people from trees for Sunday fun.

I think it's a little too early to vote Libertarian b/c you'll be helping democrats... but in a few years when they really start building steam (with help of people like Neal Boortz) things will start to change...

Danny_C 07-02-2004 09:35 AM

I'm a socialist libertarian.

CX* 07-02-2004 09:41 AM

I've voted libertarian for the last 10 years in every election from mayor to president and all the other positions to be voted on... but not so sure about the big election coming up.. I do feel that the more people who vote for it the bigger it will become and eventually will be a major party... but this Nov is a little soon for that to happen...

It is a great book. It was made into a movie starring Miranda Richardson and Robert Duval.

Is there such a thing? Libertarians don't support state sponsored social spending - like welfare and health care.

Libertine 07-02-2004 10:28 AM

I'm surprised to see so many people who are apparently completely oblivious of the fundamental flaws of libertarianism.

benc 07-02-2004 10:30 AM

Independent , fisically conservative.

Things like this Hillary Clinton quote irriate me.

"We're not coming to you, many of whom are well enough off that actually the tax cuts may have helped you, and say 'we're going to give you more.' We're saying, 'you know what, for America to get back on track and be fiscally responsible, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.'"

Well thank you Hillary for deciding to take MY money.

Ash@phpFX 07-02-2004 10:33 AM

Actually, all political parties pander to the dumb.

Why be a part of a party that will never have any meaningful impact or win a Presidential election? Why be political at all if you aren't going to make a difference anyway other than to let the world know that you chose 7-UP because it cleverly positioned itself as an alternative to Coke and Pepsi.

Some people have long term goals rather than short term ones.
