Just been slandered BIG TIME over a newbie mistake...
 

I had someone help me build a site, and they made the newbie mistake of copying someone's site layout, then DUH submitting it to their link list for me.

Well, this person not only slandered me on a web board, they have taken it as a personal mission to write every major link list owner regarding the offense.

I only found out about this because I saw referral stats from this other board on the counter stats. When I read her post, I changed the site design, fired the partner after building only that one site, I'll probably go change it even more so it is further away from her design.

Sigh. How do I restore my credibility? This HURTS, I do this full time now while my boyfriend works. To think that I might never get listed again on a major link list over her words.... http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/frown.gif

Write her and personally explain what happened and how much you regret it and it will never happen again and then make sure it dosen't. Although with so many programs used to make web sites I can't imagine that people's site wouldn't look alike once in a while just by law of coincidence and if it does not hurt the "copied" webmaster...who cares? If anyone wants to copy my sites...feel free....lol as if....

We have ironed it out since yesterday, I changed the site, apologized to her, and she wrote the major link lists a letter of retraction.

I was hurt becuase she didn't e-mail me about it, she posted on a board (I have not problem with that) then wrote every major link list owner about it, without giving me a chance to correct it. Sigh. That was the part that hurt.

Anyways, learned a lesson. I pride myself on making cool sites that my boyfriend gets a little overzealous on designing graphics for. I've been so sick, when my friend volunteered, I knew she had done straight sites, and was toying with the idea of adult. She is pretty mortified over what happened.

In the straight world, many people at least get an idea of general framework from other sites...done alot. But she copied all the meta tags verbatim...duh.

Anyways, she decided the adult world is too weird for her and will stick with straight. I'll stick with designing my own sites, thank you very much! http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif

And I'd rather not pass her name on, since it was a mistake that was my fault since I didn't oversee what she was doing. I believe in being held accountable for people that do work for me.
