Dear WebMasters,

It appears as though epassporte has begun using paypal like tactics to randomly "sieze" money from users accounts.

This shady tactic is nothing more than robbery , you people (epassporte) should be ashamed of yourselves for using such tactics.

DONT EVER EVER EVER USE THIS SERVICE FOR ONLINE BILL PAYING !!!

Lets see.. on the one hand I have the oh 40-50k I've gotten through my Epassporte account in the past year and on the other I have the scaremongering of some guy with a brand new nickname and nothing to backup his claims.

They locked 2 personal friends accounts for no reason and jerked them around for a week. The routine was very similair to what paypal was doing.

If i could suspend and jerk around with %10 of my customer base with 10 million dollars of their money , i would be much richer too :)

Im just giving you a warning. One day you will wake up with your account locked , and they will take up too a week to turn it back on. SO dont use it too pay bills ( i.e. expiring domains etc etc )

it is set to expire in july1 2004 but no problems as your registrar has your credit card on file and is set to rebill before it expires

epassporte locks your account the week before it expires and what do you know the rebill is declined and the domain expires..

Guess where that puts you...

So far i haven't even told anyone to dump epassporte , just letting them know that if they have ONLINE BILLS they pay with epassporte , they will eventually get their account locked , and epassporte will block the credit cards charges.. If this is domains, they will let them expire, If this is hosting , they will let it go down.


Basically epassporte and bill paying is like sending a crackhead to the bank to pay your bills for you. You just can't trust them.

Fraud control is great, i have it on my mastercard, the difference is, it takes a 5 minute phone call to unblock mastercard, it took your incompetent staff a week to do the same thing.

Your totally right. If by "fuck them" you mean, spend money or use the epassporte account in any way.

If you plan on actually getting your money back or spending it on bills, then epassporte is not the card you want. If you plan on burning your money in a huge bonfire, then your in the right place.

Ok let me say flat out I read a lot of shit on Epassporte and I would not use them for that very reason but in this particular case I find it dubious that your friends need you to speak for them.

So explain that please?

The odds of your "two friends" having their accounts "seized" or whatever you want to call it, in the same week that two supposedly different individuals contacted me in icq and email is pretty slender, since there aren't normally two accounts a week that are blocked, especially not two people that know each other. Unless of course there is something not quite right going on with one or both of the accounts.

We could delve into statistical analysis if you like, but frankly cards don't get blocked for no reason.

Now, if fraud control comes back and tells me there was no other pair of accounts that had any common denominators AND were blocked this week, this thread is going to look really silly from where you stand.

And believe me, if you're going to call ePassporte "shady robbers" as you indicated in your initial post, I'm going to investigate the situation from the inside out.

To all the other epassporte nuthuggers, i dont blame you , i would be the first to jump in on an epassporte thread , with good things to say. These stories lead me to believe they are headed down the same path as paypal , thats all im saying. Count the warnings , when they reach paypal levels then run for the hills.

You can say what you like, but at the end of the day, I've discussed this with our fraud department, and what you say simply isn't the case.

I also talked to a particular webmaster program regarding some fraud they experienced.

Well now, funny you should ask that. Money that is paid to a fraudulent account is returned to its starting point -- ie if a program paid it out, then the program is credited the money back.

Money that is loaded into the system via cc or ACH is credited back to the legitimate source where it originated.

And darling, let me make one thing clear to you. ePassporte is not in the business of being taken by fraudsters, nor do we allow our account holders to be defrauded either.

As i previously explained the accounts have nothing to do with fraud. They were 2 seperate people both experienced the same type of problems.. Accounts locked , long delays to get them back on. ( both accounts are working fine now , but that is not the point )

The service itself is a good one, the support is terrible.

Your company dropped the ball period...

All im doing is warning others that if you pay bills , dont use epassporte, because its not the same as every other credit card in the world with great service and helpfull support staff, on the contrary the slow inadequate response , form letters, general robot like customer support, i'm suprised you aren't outsourcing that support.
