Video encoding - Where do I find info

Where are the good resources to learn the ins and outs of video encoding?

I just purchased a Mini DV and need to know the tricks used to make the videos web ready. So does anyone have tips or resources I should look at? Thanks.

And no, I don't plan to become competition to the content producers :)

Hahah, how did you know? I have been using my mom's old 8mm film camera circa 1969 for my content until now. :)

Quoting Wayne or Garth: NOT

Actually, I don't plan to make content. Content girls are a pain in the ASS. I pay someone else to deal with them. But does anyone know where to start?

PLEASE? I'll paypal $2 to whoever gives me the most useful info.

I doubt it, Eric (Sobe Girl) has been encoding video for a very long time. Longer than most people that post here have been in business.

If you have Windows Xp I suggest practicing with Windows Movie Maker and the online help, then once you get the just of things move up to a professional editor like Vegas, Adobe, or on the low end side Pinnacle.
