nobody tells people how many members their paysite has and if they do they are lying about how many members they have.

A more interesting piece of info: To hear from the paysites themselves the truth about their conversion ratios. I don't fully believe what they state on the sponsorship sign-up pages... But then again, it would be naive to expect that kind of info (?)

The conversion ratio is as dependent on the quality of your traffic as our tour pages.

I have some retailers that convert at 1 in 50-100 on over 1000 uniques a day, everday.

I have others (freehosting traffic)that convert at 1 in 5000 or more.

The free hosted sites convert their traffic at a much lower rate than the paid ones. But I do not fully understand why the difference is so big! http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/confused.gif

I think you loose a lot of your quality hits to the headers and footer therfore looseing those signups to the free host. He gets them instead.

I have set my paid hosting up to look like free hosting and gotten very good results out of the headers and footers sometimes better than the normal pages

When I was really working my pay site, I was doing a little better than 1:100. Still do but the traffic is way down cause I just haven't been working it.

I thought of that once, never tried...

The difference is so big because the surfers coming from free host almost never buy.

They are looking for free porn. End of story.

Webmasters that are paying for there hosting tend to spend a little more time on their sites, and spend more time getting better qualified surfers to their sites. Ergo the traffic converts better.

And I'm not saying that anyone who uses free hosting is not working hard.

But when you are paying for your hosting it tends to make you a little more inclined to make money with your traffic and the best way to do that is to send your sponsor better qualified traffic.
