What's more of a value - .com or .net?

Let's say you have 2 nice domains, and the only difference between them is one is .com and the other is .net. Which one is more of a value? Or does it not even matter? I personally have the chance to get a .net of a nice ass domain, but I'd rather have the .com. Am I being silly? Discuss :)

shermo 07-01-2004 04:42 AM

I don't blame you. A .com is always valued higher. Think about it: When you search for company website, don't you generally type "company.cpm" rather than "company.net"?

It's almost a standard when dealing with type in traffic.

polish_aristocrat 07-01-2004 04:43 AM

.com is better

s9ann0 07-01-2004 04:44 AM

.com if you wanna swap .com for .net lmk

:thumbsup

pussyluver 07-01-2004 04:45 AM

.com of course. Even the browsers assume .com as a default. A lot of people use the Ctrl-Enter to save key strokes.

it's obvious that .com is better, but if you can buy a sweet .net domain, I think it's worth it

woj 07-01-2004 10:05 AM

.com for sure

sexsup 07-01-2004 10:45 AM

.com will be always better than .net

riosluts 07-01-2004 10:47 AM

.com is better for sure
whatever address you put in the IE address bar without any (.com's or .nets) like microsoft, it will try to connect to microsoft.com first, then microsoft.net, etc, etc

http:///?%20www.microsoft

Firehorse 07-01-2004 08:27 PM

.com by far although I usually grab the .net as well if it's a kick ass domain name. :)

keyboard warrior 07-01-2004 08:34 PM

.sex for sure!

pimplink 07-01-2004 08:37 PM

I think .com is much better.

Shoehorn! 07-01-2004 08:39 PM

.com is the best.

Tempest 07-01-2004 08:47 PM

As far as I'm concerned, it depends on what you're going to use it for. I used to always try and get a .com but then I started thinking about what I'm actualy going to use it for... If you want type in, bookmark type traffic and/or you plan on reselling it, then .com.. but if you're just going to use it for bulk galleries or SE work it doesn't matter much.
