New Iraqi gov't. "And our first order of business is ..."

reinstating the death penalty. It's done.

Terrorism is now punishable by death.

Oh, yeah. Good luck, Saddam.

Good point, it would have been better to legalize prostitution.

Yeah, but does that law include terrorism that happened before the law was in place? It would seem to me, that SH needs to be tried based upon laws he broke at the time he broke them; hence an international court would have been more effective. Otherwise, he will be tried and convicted of crimes that weren't crimes at the time he committed them and that is not a democratic society.:2 cents:

Re: Terrorism. I wasn't referring to Saddam. It means that those who plant car bombs, etc. in Iraq will face the death penalty.

Those are the religious fundamentalists.

There's also the resistance... that is, the people fighting against the government put in place by the country that invaded them and for a completely independent government. Sure, their methods are kinda brutal, but they actually do have a valid point.

Ironically, by giving them the death penalty, the gap between the government and the people is widened even more. You create the sort of situation that existed in the second world war, where the resistance ("terrorists") killed the occupying forces and those who collaborated with them, and the germans and their puppet regimes executed the terrorists ("resistance") when they caught them.
