I told them...."I would not buy a Maxtor external drive."

I went on to say....."Yes, it will suit your needs but personally, I would not buy it."

So...Of course....They bought it.

Now I am sitting at my desk with this fucking drive that I am supposed to use to transfer a shitload of data to them and Maxtor does not offer a Windows XP driver on their website. The drive came with an XP driver.....But why would I think to bring the disk with me since any decent company will have thier latest updated drivers on-line?

OK...Perhaps I should have brought the disk....but still...This kind of support sucks ass.

If I were to ever consider buying a Maxtor drive after this....I won't now. :321GFY

It's a basic driver you fools...PUT IT ON YOUR FUCKING WEBSITE!

That is funny. and sorry to hear.

The sad thing is that they actually make really good products. And I need a new internal drive. Now I may look elsewhere

i had very similar experiences with HP support, it just outright SUCKED!

couldnt find drivers for something i just bought, they wouldnt answer emails, wouldnt reply on their forums, etc.

i know back then they had countless amounts of unhappy people flooding the forums, so i guess that doesnt help too much.

not sure what to do that will make these large companies remember that customer service is still important

good luck with the driver, i hope you dont end up having to pay for a 3rd party driver site ...

Firewire? Coz all the USB externals I've used get auto-detected and whatnot.

hahahaha

I have a maxtor external 300gb, and regardless of how many times I install the driver, each time I go to use it, it makes me install it again and again. Xp and Those drives dont get along.

sorry for trying to help..... no reason to stay out of your thread if I am trying to help is there?

:)

I have a sneaky suspicion he's talking about the OneTouch drive...correct me if I'm wrong.

There's a CD included(like he mentioned) but there's no online driver/software for it.
That sucks indeed.

I am not looking for help. I wanted to complain.

And where in the fuck did you offer help? I plainly said that this drive was purchased by another person...Then you come back asking questions about my new system...Which is not even built yet....And you offer advice on another brand of drive. How in the hell does that solve my current problem?

Had you payed attention and offered a solution in line with the problem, I may have shown you a little more respect....Not that you really deserve it.

Gotta love the content game. :glugglug

Sly_RJ 06-30-2004 10:20 PM

I've had to reinstall drivers a couple times where I didn't have the CD. Hop online, go to the website, no drivers. What the hell? Sometimes running a Google search you'll find the drivers listed on other tech sites. Why they don't include drivers on the website is beyond me, very frustrating...

Thanks...But I drove over and picked up the disk. :)

I appreciate the effort though. :thumbsup
