How many hits to test a sponsor?
 

How many hits should I send to a sponsor (partnership) to evaluate signup ratios?

Yes, I'm using only TGP traffic right now, but when someone clicks on a banner they know that they're going to a paysite. At that point I figure it's up to the paysite to close the sale with a dynamite tour.

I hope no one will suggest 5 or 10K hits before I make a determination to switch sponsors. I'm only sending about 100 hits/day right now.

On a related topic, can you recommend a sponsor that is converting well for you? Is it simply because of the niche or do they have a knock-em dead tour?

I've been currently testing a sponsor on my galleries .. I sent them about 4k hits and no signup ( no blind, just banners and text links ) and last two days I made 3 signups with ratio about 1:250
I think you really need to send couple of thousands hits to find out if the sponsor really works or not .

The widest range I have heard was to wait up to 5.000 clicks, I give them 2.000.
It depends on how you promote the site. In my opinion if you put a link telling about price of the sign-up already 1.000 should be enough to see if anything is happening. Also it is very important which clickthrough is counted.
Some programs count 1st page view, others using for example ctc count 2nd page clickthroughs (like AP, TOPCASH etc.).
If Lensmann wrote somewhere on this board their click/impression ratio on Amateurpages enterpage is about 1:15 this would mean getting 100 clicks counted from his stats equals 1500 viewed enterpages. But this is still not all to because AP enterpage doesn't look like paid site enterpage apart from majority, so the correct number cant be evaluated, no talking about marketing know-how. Some people can convert some sponsors, some not.

However the main argument would be how fat is sponsors check at the end of month.

If I can not get one sign up after 500 hits I run. Why waste preciouse hits? The sponsor I use now is converting 1:100. I think that is good.

Ah, the demands I'm making on my new sponsors seem moderate in comparison... I'll wait 3,000 clicks. If this traffic has generated at least 3 sign-ups, I'll stay a bit longer.

Perhaps I'm way too compliant and forgiving--I'm still with my old sponsor GammaCash (recurring), where my current ratio is 1:2000 !! http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/mad.gif On the other hand, It's lot of hard tedious time-consuming work involved in changing sponsor all the time. You want one that will work for you on a sustained basis.
