"MoveOn.org Launches Online Fox Watch Group to Track Fox News's Partisan Bias

WASHINGTON, DC -- The wall between objective journalism and partisan politicking at Fox News fell last week when it became clear that Fox News staff contributed to the orchestration of the Republican-led 39-hour Senate talk-a-thon intended to counter the Democrat filibuster against four of President Bush's most radically conservative judicial nominees."

Most parents use PC's and Playstations as babysitters and hardly interact with their kids. That's the biggest problem of all.

V_RocKs 06-29-2004 10:08 PM

Fox News and porn. Like any other day in Los Angeles!

BlingDaddy 06-29-2004 10:08 PM

Once again.... trying to regulate the internet... Whether its music or porn... the government wants a piece.... I'm Republican... but seriously...

Fuckin AMEN KRL..... Just ask my sisters son who is "addicted". My son is 16 months and I spend 13 hours a day with him.... I don't want him like that.

The goverment should just stay away from it all, they only fuck things up. Good examples are can spam and this new bill for spyware. It only requires that you let people know its there and what it does. But most programs already have you agree to thier terms but nobody ever reads them. All this bill will do is give the spyware companies protection. It may stop a few of the drive by spamware but not enough to help :(

They're going to be talking about the case on the Abrams report on MSNBC in a few......if you want to watch that and compare to the Faux.....errrr.....Fox report.

MattK 06-29-2004 10:19 PM

The one conservative guy's biggest point was that kids are smart and they will get around the filters, so the gov. can't use technology and has to prosecute people that put up the content.

If the kids are so smart then it won't matter that free hardcore porn is outlawed just in the USA since they will be able to EASILY find it on non-US sites!

Maybe in a couple years the USA will block ALL access to non-US web sites, that will be the ONLY way to stop kids from getting to non-us free hardcore porn sites if it is outlawed in the US. Fuckin idiots.

the key is to make it look like they're doing something...

gotta show the voters and donators that they're moving off their asses

Yeah, it's the fucking parents fault, they would rather push the blame off on somebody else rather than take responsibility for themselves and do something about it. :BangBang:

That lady was a tool.
When the guy from the other side said that 40% of these sites are in other countries and a U.S. law wouldn't affect them she said
"You're assuming those other sites won't use the age verification"
and
"If we get 60% that's a good start"

What a fucking dumb ass....they're obviously religious zealots just out to stick it to pornographers, if they really cared about their kids they'd use filtering software AND supervise their children when they surf the web.

Snake Doctor 06-29-2004 10:42 PM

This same biatch with her painted on eyebrows was on the MSNBC report to.
This idiot thinks that the law would apply to foreign websites and the US government would be able to prosecute European website owners under the law since it doesn't contain an exemption for foreign webistes.
:1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

On another note, the MSNBC report was much better and seemed to represent both sides fairly.

here is a thought for everyone who has a domain. The Domains are run by US companies for the most part, and it was US govt who started the net. Ifthe US govt wants to shut down a foreign companies website. They could get an prosecution of the company, if the person did not show up from the foreign land to defend themselves in US court thent he court could order the seizure of the domain name.. and Poof there goes yoru site.

Sure there goes your site, and that's a big IF.

But this woman was referring to citizens of other countries being subject to the $50,000 fines and jail time for breaking a U.S. law.

That's total bullshit of course, she just didn't have a good response when Abrams told her this wouldn't stop porn from Europe or anywhere else outside the U.S.

Snake Doctor 06-29-2004 11:28 PM

Another point Lars.

Aren't co.uk, .ca, etc. domains under the jurisdiction of their respective governments and not the U.S.?

In that case the only way the gov't could stop porn on those domains would be to block U.S. users from accessing them, in which case the argument goes back to filtering at the client level as opposed to verification at the server level.

Content filtering is pretty easy. If kids are smart enough to get around that then they are smart enough to handle a bit of smut. After all, what prepubescent boy do you know that isn't actively trying to find some smut? I haven't met one yet.
