recommend video editing software

I just want something fast, stable, and uncluttered.

I want to import from Canon GL1 -> firewire -> XP Pro
and quickly be able to cut out any excess footage.

I should be able to transition those cuts, and add basic text.

Then convert it to different file types.

And that's probably all I'll be using it for, so budget is better.

I like intuitive software, without all the bells and whistles and consumerish interface that gets in the way.

What am I looking for?

This is what I use for all my movies until I understand Final Cut Pro.

http://www.ulead.com makes decent stuff. Not as robust as Adobe but not as expensive either and without the learning curve

I use Premiere....but I know that a lot of people here swear by Vegas Video.

Final Cut Pro HD is the top of the line. $999. Pro level broadcast quality and HD output.

Some good intro software is Pinnacle or Premier. Final Cut pro is better

Go big or go home...Premiere for PC, Final Cut Pro for Mac.

Use anything else and you'll always be relegated to the "wanna-be's"...

my 2 cents.
