lots of kids are in iraq now because somebody send them to (not only from US)

I dont think my 5 year old would be very useful there.

I wouldn't even send my "enemies" (if I had any) to Iraq.

Ummm I dont think anyone can "send" their son to Iraq. Unless there have been drastic changes someone has to join the military willingly.

My son just joined the Air Force and I didn't try to stop him. He will deployed to SOME sandbox country, but we don't know when or where. One of his best friends is finishing up OTS for the Army and another is getting ready to enter OTS for the Mariines. Unless something really drastic happens, they will both end up there.

Thankfully there are still men and women who feel it's an honor to serve their country in the military. :)

I can think of much better vacation spots to send a family member.

I volunteered in 1990 but by the time I got thru basic training and AIT it was winding down and they had stopped sending troops and were starting to bring some home.

I did get to go to Somalia and Haiti though, and while I was in Korea I volunteered to go to Bosnia, but got denied because they needed me to stay in Korea.
