Seeking opinions on TGP

Following case. You run a hardlink niche oriented TGP, thumbnailed. Do you

a. use smaller thumb sizes, more of them and less days across the index or
b. use larger thumb sizes, less of them and list more days?

Discuss :) I know both has ad-and disadvantages, but I'd like some opinions here.

Overall, the two indeces are comparable in size. Is it of use to bombard the surfer with 35-40 daily thumbs, out of which he will most likely only click 4 at best?

edit: can't spell for shit tonight.

It's ok, don't be shy. Contribute and share the love.

Maybe I should post a pic of a nude chick spreading to get some attention around here.

Well there are quite a few questions to consider. Are all the galleries submitted? Do you list your own in the good spots? Do you have submitters you like to treat well? If its a niche tgp are there many subniche choices? How do you monetize it? Are there regular old banners, odd sized? Do you have archives? What's the primary/secondary goal of the tgp?

In my opinion less thumbs is going to get the surfer moving onward...to banners, archives or other links...to money. Especially in a thumb preview situation. They take it all in quickly and if a few thumbs don't jump at them they're on to the text. ANd this can be important, I think one of the most important things about a thumb tgp is the text...that's where you're going to target and filter your traffic. If its highly niche targetted already this is less of a concern I guess. But a proper text link that's right up their alley will have them forgetting about the thumbs and itching to find jerk material. Personally, I always wanted to get the surfer beyond the galleries...get them out of their groove, throw a wrench in their click and close rhythm.

In my view freesites are all about the bait and switch in a sense. Get them there and promise greener pastures.

OVERALL, I'd say less is more...but it really depends on the overall goal/end purpose of the traffic you're generating.

I think the better you can tease your surfer's pants off and then catch them off guard with a sponsor, the more valuable that surfer will be, whatever the purpose you intend for them.

Remember, when the dick is half full of blood, the brain is half empty. That's the sweet spot.

Good advice Josh. :)

That's what I was looking for -- excellent advice, thanks Josh! :thumbsup

The galleries will be partially own, partially submitted ones. The niche will target a board audience, and there will be a healthy mix of subniches covered.

Considering the site will be hardlinked, the goal is geared towards creating bookmarkers, offering more quality than quanity. There won't be no banners, I want to focus the traffic on the galleries and convert them there, while keeping the index clean.

I will take your advice and see how it goes. Thanks again.
