The reason why u Yanks didn't like the Day After Tommorow....from a Canuck

1) You dont like any movie that shows the USA as being defeated, whether it was the huge weather front that froze out the northern states, or the twisters that destroyed LA, or the massive tidal wave that crushed NY City;

2)You don't like the idea that you would all have to migrate south and accept the hospitality of a bunch of wetbacks;

3) Lastly, the cast featured many Canadian actors, including Jonathan Welsh as the Vice President!

I thought it was pretty cool when LA was hit with 4 or 5 twisters and I'm American.

And about the wetbacks...I'd love to go down there. Some fine ass women!

Didnt see it, but global warming is real enough, if not dramatic yet.

So look out, we're coming north!

MattO 06-27-2004 06:33 PM

Makes sense since it was created, marketed and sold mainly for US consumption. That's why it doesn't much bother with the rest of the world, which it assumes is pretty much all dead.

evildick 06-27-2004 06:33 PM

It's either that... or the massive holes in the plot, the predictable ending, or the hokey dialogue.

Actually no. You would be going in the wrong direction. The temp here as in the northern states will drop to over minus 150 degrees. You have to go south to Mexico to save your ass.

mrthumbs 06-27-2004 06:35 PM

hahaha that movie was hilarious!!

It was just a bad movie up to the moment where the tornado's
hit LA.. THATS where the movie got hilarious.

OMG.. :1orglaugh

Americans trying to get over the mexican border and shit..

Sly_RJ 06-27-2004 06:35 PM

It was a typical disaster movie. Pretty predictable. I wasn't too impressed.

Tom_PMs 06-27-2004 06:36 PM

Global freezing then. Either way, we're coming to see you! lol

EviLGuY 06-27-2004 06:40 PM

I said about the same thing myself right after I saw this. "Damn I doubt American's are going to like this movie."

I read recently the movie has done well all over the world except in the states. Do a search on Google-there is very little to be found. Anyone know the url of the official movie site?

Doctor Dre 06-27-2004 06:43 PM

Maybe also because of the overuse of the special effect and the borigness of the story ?

The fucking guy that felt off in the mall and cut his rope ... thats soooo cliche .

And the cold thats supposed to come down so fast that it didnt matter, but actually they can run away from it ? its just too fake ...

It could have been a good movie.

Not to mention Dennis "Couldn't act his way out of a wet paper sack" Quaid. :2 cents:

I disagree. It will win an Oscar for best special effects. It had a very weill written story line, including a little love story sprinkled with humor.
I would rank it in the top five of disaster movies of all time.

Webmastb8tor 06-27-2004 06:54 PM

Bottom line is u Yanks will diss any movie that portrays u as being weak. You need your daily doses of propaganda.:glugglug

uvort 06-27-2004 06:55 PM

Dude re-watch it again ...

It just dont make sence.

1st they tell us the wind from the stratosphere goes down at hundread of km/h and thats why it dosent warm up . Then the whole next part they run because of the wind that goes down as slow as a running human .

The movie itself isnt bad but they ruined it because of the over-use of special effect ...

Is that the one that came out in the early eighties with Jason Robards? I saw that one as well. It was a tv movie as I recall but you are right it was riveting.

You didn't get a very good response, better keep trolling.

RP Fade 06-27-2004 07:00 PM

maybe the reason most 'Yanks' didn't like it is because it just sucked? Just a tought.. :2 cents:

Well written story line? What about the killer wolves? (don't know how that scene could have even made the final cut)

It was pretty entertaining though. Good movie to see in the theater because of the special effects.

yes sir, it was much much MUCH more powerful than the Day after tommorow. With 1983 graphics it managed to still have a way more powerful meaning than 'the day after tommorow'.

all these stupid post like US vs the WORLD should see the movie.

Doctor Dre 06-27-2004 07:03 PM
