Senate Leader Frist cool with VP Cheney's language on the senate floor

Frist Won't Criticize Cheney for Cursing
Says it was simply "attributed to political passions aroused by the election year".

Wonder if Al Gore could have gotten away with the same thing?

MattO 06-27-2004 04:32 PM

It's okay, he didn't take Our Lord's name in vein.

arial 06-27-2004 04:34 PM

Everyone curses...

You can't be serious.

Here's a better question: Why is Al Gore opening his mouth anyways?

Tom_PMs 06-27-2004 04:39 PM

Technically since they werent actually in session, the rules against obscene language were not in effect.

Saw a story a bit ago that the president is ok with it too. The story quotes dubya calling someone an asshole as well. That story is now shortened and excludes that comment... it was on yahoo, lmao.

tony286 06-27-2004 04:52 PM

If Al Gore had said it there would of been a call for him to resign. They would be talking about what do we tell the children.

Exactly, I believe that too. To the other poster, I was referring to Gore when he was VP, not now:glugglug

tony286 06-27-2004 04:57 PM

Rush and Fox would of been talking about it for weeks . How he has no self control and how can we have a man like this representing the United States of America. lol

Someone should ask them if that means that they're OK with cursing in a church too, as long as it's not "in session"?:1orglaugh

I think Sean Hannity would be on it much harder than Rush.

Tom_PMs 06-27-2004 05:01 PM

If Gore had said it, there is no doubt that it would have been an uproar forever. Probably immediate steps to remove him.

Bush cant fire his boss though.

David! 06-27-2004 05:02 PM

You gotta be kidding?
Who gives a fuck if Cheney said "fuck" ?
It is a well know fact that Kerry has short tempers and says "fuck" all the time.
So what?

Plan9 06-27-2004 05:04 PM

haha...all this uproar over obscenity, and foul language on T.V. and Radio, but its perfectly ok for Cheney to curse like a sailor...

Not that I personally care - but it does seem rather hypocritical.

Tom_PMs 06-27-2004 05:05 PM

I have no problem with them saying fuck all day long. But NOT where it can be overheard and reported to the world..

It's undignified, it's conduct unbecoming a person of his station, and it's yet another tiny straw on the camels back.

:2 cents:

Tom_PMs 06-27-2004 05:08 PM

We should contract Halliburton to wash his mouth out with industrial soap for 50 million, then subcontract it for 20k.

Only makes his stock options more valuable. The stock options that he himself helped make possible for ceo's to keep during his earlier tenure in government.

No corruption to see here, just move along.

David! 06-27-2004 05:10 PM

It is neither ok nor not ok.
It is just a waste of time to keep talking about this shit, that's all.
There's a war going on, there are a bunch of terrorists running loose and trying to end this civilization as we know it, and, furthermore there are a bunch of horny fuckers who surely need to buy a porn site membership.
So, let's get to work

Rich 06-27-2004 05:15 PM

Just because it's against the law to swear on the senate floor, doesn't mean Cheney shouldn't do it. This administration above the law. God told him to tell a senator to go fuck himself.

It's also illegal to lie while under oath, especially when you are the President, next....

There are more pressing matters at hand right now, so whoever is our President should focus on those...:2 cents:

Mr.Fiction 06-27-2004 05:22 PM

These are the same assholes who want Howard Stern off the air for using lesser language.

The hypocrisy of the right wing is never ending.
