DVD XCopy. The whole process takes a little over an hour on my machine, but it works flawlessly.

an hour sucks.
shouldn't take more than 20 minutes.

If you want crappy quality, sure.

for once i agree with The Truth Hurts :winkwink:

I was using DVDxcopy and finally made a few copies with dvdshrink.
DVDshrink kicks ass compared to dvdxcopy.
Dvdxcopy takes very long and also the DVD is much crappier and sometimes almost choppy in quality in comparison to DVDshrink.

DVDSHRINK all the way

:thumbsup

Quality doesn't enter into it.

I rarely have to compress a movie, and never more than 10%.
And at 10% you couldn't spot a difference if you tried.
If it's too big, I just split it onto 2 discs.

DVDSchrink is actually on of the best, but make shure you run the deep analysis for the best quality (you will need a real fast machine to finish in 20 minutes).

For long movies like The God Father or LOTR you can use Cinemacraft encoder to fit it on one disk, you won't see any quality decrease but the process will take several hours.

I've never used the deep analysis, cause as I said, I rarely compress anything i'm copying.

If a whole disc is too big, I reauthor selecting only the movie, then dump any audio channels I'll never need... leaving usually the movie, and 1 audio track (usually the 5.1).

Special features and Directors commentary in French serve no purpose..

So after all that shit, you should be able to do an uncompressed copy... unless the movie is over like an hour and a half.. or two hours.. in which case, splitting onto 2 DVDs gives me a built in piss break : )

Dual layer disc's and burners are starting to come out now, so 8.5G disc's should put an end to having to spit, compress, or strip anything at all: )

DVDSchrink rules :)

DVD Decryptor for the smaller discs. DvdShrink for anything bigger than 4.7 gig :thumbsup
