Opt-in enough or is still suggested to go with double opt-in?

Actually I'm not looking for a script..but thx...what I'm asking is for mainstream opt-in fine enough or should I still go with double opt-in for "legal" reasons?

Double optin has ALWAYS been considered best.
But also collect single optins (guys who submit but don't click the second time) and email them a couple times to confirm.

Go double opt.
