Yeah, I usually watch them, but this time I'm not suicidal. I've read too many angry comments for that one.

The thing about Starship Troopers is that it's one of those movies that gets a cult following because it's so crappy it's good. I love Starship Troopers (the first one - haven't seen the second one).. but something tells me not to hold my breath for an Oscar nomination.

I loved the first one, but this was wasn't nearly as good. As far as direct to video/dvd fare goes, it's not bad, but missed the humor, ironyu and overall look of the first one. Granted it had about 1/20th the budget which contributed to the not so special effects and the acting was fairly poor.

So, it was entertaining and a good beer and buddies flick, but nothin near the original.

I liked Starship Troopers. I liked "Verhoeven's" style. It was not like the book but still fun.

Now that sequel is straight to DVD and the budget was hilarious. There's a difference between a sci-fi movie that doesn't try to be serious and a low budget movie that fails horribly doing the same thing.

Kitty and I watched it last night. I would agree with what you said. I think I'll watch the first one again to get over it! :Graucho

I saw it....It's totally crapulous. I can't believe they managed to get the rights to make something so awful.

Manowar 06-26-2004 12:55 AM

Happens all the time, I hate when the creators sell the Name/theme to another bunch of losers. I've seen this time and time again --

Cruel Intentions 2 (although a hot lesbian shower scene)
Bring it On 2

and a few other stupid reject hand me downs I've seen.

If I can find it on BT i'll download it, but paying for it: :1orglaugh

=^..^= 06-26-2004 02:28 AM

its was NO WHERE near as good as the first it was extremely low budget . no charcter devlopment and even the "want to know more" scenes were shot really poorly - not even done "computer style" liek the first

HIGHLY predictable plot

it's the type of film i'd expect high school kids to make after watching the first :glugglug
