May 24, 2004 - Brian Fargo is what we like to refer to as a "creative genius." Responsible for several innovative games, including Wasteland and Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, Fargo decided to create his own development studio a few years ago. Now inXile entertainment is preparing to release its first title, The Bard's Tale. If that name sounds familiar, it's because Fargo created the original Bard's Tale 20 years ago for the PC. But this isn't the same old dungeon crawl. Instead, inXile decided to make a parody to RPGs using the same engine that powers Champions of Norrath for the PS2.

With fierce, biting humor and a great combat system, The Bard's Tale could be the sleeper hit of the year. Coming to PS2 and Xbox this fall and PC in early 2005, The Bard's Tale is already a favorite among the IGN editors. Why? Watch our video preview featuring exclusive direct-feed footage and you'll understand some of the humor and clever gameplay that's been thrown into this promising title. "

Doesn't sound like it's going to be the same kind of fun the original was, but it's still getting rave reviews.. can't wait to play it.. I wasted so many hours of my young life on the original..

where are all the old school rpg nerds??? :)

Right here !!!!

I remember good old bards tale! Not sure I'm up for playing the new one though...

For some reason when I read the title of your thread my brain said "Oh crazy- they are re-doing Dragon's Lair!" which would also be cool....

They've been talking about the new game from awhile now but it's the first time I've seen some screen shots. I'm looking forward to it, Brian Fargo has a pretty good track record.

I loved that game so many years ago, can't wait to try out the remake, just gotta decide which platform to play it on.

BTW - looks like they are redoing Dragon's lair and Space Ace - 20th anniversary.

oh. my. god.

thx, extremely cool news... last good rpg to come out was Wizardry 8, this is truly welcome for anyone who grew up playing *real* rpg's that took months to finish. hope it lives up to its legendary namesake..!

I had "Bard's Tale III" but the damn game never worked :(

yep.. thats my greatest fear.. the way they talk about it I hope it's more of a funny rpg than a "parody".. I'm not sure how well it's going to translate to a one person 3d hack and slash fromt he old party system.. there truly was something magical about that game.. also you sure as fuck better be able to walk around skara brae in 3d...
