Can you judge the level of friendship by how much you can anger each other?

It stands to reason that the closer two friends are, the more they can piss each other off, right? Since they'd know what buttons to push to really get under their skin.

So if you were capable of guaging just how angry a friend can make you.... would it be safe to assume that you can guage just how much you really consider that person a friend?

Discuss.

In all seriousness, I think that knowing what buttons to push on someone doesn;t really make them a friend. It just means you know them well. The person could be your cocksucking fag room mate that you have lived with for 5 years. You don't like the person, but you know them well and you know what buttons to push. This works vice versa :2 cents:

That's all well and good, and I agree. But I'm saying, if someone is your friend... and you hang out, go for drinks.. you know, what ever.... and then what ever happens and you go at it and really piss each other off, at that point... can you judge the level of friendship by the level of anger?

Familiarity breeds contempt..

Remember as a kid when you would be admonished to be on your best behaviour because company was coming to visit?

I think we tend to be nicer to those we dont know because their limits are unknown..

With friends and family, you know how far you can push them, so you do, lmao :1orglaugh

yep my best friends are people ive fought with - and made up later
thts how I know they are real friends

as for pushing buttons - it's true - the closer you are to someone the more you can get under their skin
If you're born into my family it's a given that you're going to endure a lifetime of torment for all the other members

makes for thick skin tho

It's how you resolve those conflicts that determines your level of friendship :thumbsup

fuzebox 06-25-2004 01:33 AM

Weird question. No, I don't think you can judge it like that.

I do find it ironic that my best friend pisses me off more than most people though, and on a regular basis.

Yes, I guess it would definitely judge how deeply you know that person. The level of anger would gauge how well you know the person, as well as how much you care for the person whether it be love or hatred :2 cents:
