Hosting question (or something)
Planning om getting my own box ... now i have to fill in a hostname ...
Here comes my question i assume that i have to point my registerd domain name .. that i'm going to use as host name .. to a ip # then. But it's registerd at namecheap .. and if you want to change the dns .. they say only to use name servers .. (no ip's) How am i going to do this ? |
Your host will have name servers for you to point to.

I would seriously suggest that you learn some more about dedicated boxes as they're not to be handled by a newbie you would spend more time on calls to support than actual work.
Many top hosts do have great virtual packages that have the same overall transfer per month and hosted with a handful of sites to reduce load. However this option reduces control of specific parts, so depending on what you use hosting for depends on what sort of hosting to get, for example an application will always need a box, however paysites do and can quite happily run on virtual. :2 cents: |

Thanks guy's ..
I have some one for me to take care of the server (he has multiple himself), he only was used to .nl domain names where he could work directly with the ip's .. so i just wanted to be sure. |
What a funny thread. Am I the only one who didn't spam?
