CS-Jay 06-24-2004 10:28 AM

So I bought the Zend Performance Suite....

And it fucking kicks ass!!!

I mean this bitch is bad ass! I went from my index page loading at 1.8 sec to .159-.5 sec.

if you would like to see the proof:
Optimized
Pre-Op

note: to see the time, look at the very last line on the page, you might even have to highlight the text to see it.

And thanks again to everyone
that helped me on my decision on to purchase this.

Also, thanks to all the Zend guys, it's a product that does exactly what they said it would and then some.

Jay D.

I don't see the .159 seconds but it loads faster than the unoptimized page does for sure. I think some simple page caching is all you would have needed since you don't update the site that much. :glugglug

beergood 06-24-2004 10:34 AM

Ironic that you post this being that I'm debating buying a half dozen license for it today.

Old (tried this second) - Processing Time: 0.7296240 sec.

Yeah well the 30 day trial convinced me it would pay for itself fast.

L0stMind 06-24-2004 11:03 AM

Optimised shit doesnt load for me at all.

Times out.

IE6, cable modem in vancouver.

pre-op (sounds tranny ish) loads fine, if a bit slow.

calmlikeabomb 06-24-2004 11:06 AM

The optimized page wont load for me either.

I'm on a cable connection with Brighthouse Newtworks.

Using Mozilla browser.

Sounds like there's an issue with out of country surfers.

And I was wondering when someone was gonna catch the pre-op. :Graucho

NickPapageorgio 06-24-2004 11:06 AM

Where u at in FL?

Volantt 06-24-2004 11:09 AM

To get a little faster you could host your images using THTTPD web server. Would speed apache up not having to handle the requests for images. Or even better license Zeus.

P.S. For those wanting a free PHP caching program. Try Turk MMcache, I have had great success. But Zend Performance Suite is definately a nice product.

What are you doing that is affecting out of country surfers?

geo-targeting gone wrong?

CS-Jay 06-24-2004 11:18 AM

No Geo, actually nothing of that nature. But if you have cookies turned off that might affect it. But then it doesn't make sense. Because those 2 pages are identical. I just copied the index page, and told the optimizer to run on the indexj.php to see the results.

Yeah, Cocoa Beach does suck. But then again so does West Palm Beach, but just not as bad.

It's funny you should say that because Zend has an awsome new product comming out really soon that one of the functions does the same thing as using a thhtpd server to host your images but it does it seamlessly. I have beta tested it and can say that it is awsome.
you can read the readmefile here that i put on my server

hmmm ... I'm in Canada, on a cable modem, and the "optimized version" doesn't load at all for me? The pre-op version works fine!

Steve 06-24-2004 12:52 PM

your new optimized page wont load for me at all

Mozilla browser
cable modem

the old page slams right in

fuelcell 06-24-2004 01:51 PM

Ditto on optimized page no load w/ cablemodem, in Vegas, Mozilla. Looks like money down the drain to me.

CS-Jay 06-24-2004 02:24 PM

I'll figure it out. That's why I didn't go live with it!

How funny, optimized page doesnt load at all. I rather have a slow page instead of paying for a page that doesnt work.

same here... the non-optimised was fast. The optimised keeps loading and loading. I just hit "stop" because it was 45 seconds allready... (I'm using opera)

directfiesta 06-24-2004 02:40 PM

Opt doesn't load

Prepop is fine.

Canada, ADSL Ultra High Speed, IE 6.0.2800

Can you guys that are having trouble try it again.

AWC 06-24-2004 02:43 PM

Optimized took forever to load... at least a minute before the page popped... Processing Time: 1.0316050 sec.

Old page popped and loaded right away Processing Time: 0.7929881 sec.

IF i were a surfer... I woulda left way before your optimized page loaded.

I'm on 3Mb cable from Charter.net from Nashville

Yeah, that's why I am testing it on a hidden page.

Thanks

Trafficbrokercom 06-24-2004 03:32 PM

hm, I don't think it's a zend issue ..

can you put the page online without images ?

CS-Jay 06-24-2004 03:54 PM

Actually, I'm looking into a cookie issue right now. So I do not believe it is a Zend issue at all.

Btw, for the loading issue...

it seems like you are using php session with sesion cookies, mine also failed becuase I'm also blocking session cookies by default..

Arty 06-24-2004 04:08 PM

I forgot to add, once I allow session cookies from your site, it loaded fine and fast!

You might want to enable GET method for sessions, so if there is a problem with ccokies it can take over.

The speeds on the bottom had a faster time on the optimized, but it seemed to load slower overall than the unoptimized page. Strange.

Modem: Cable
Location: Vegas

Nembrionic 06-24-2004 06:47 PM

Don't wanna bust your balls, but the optimized version is slower for me too.

I tried a couple of times. Most of 'm in the 2-2.5 second range for the unoptimized, and 2.9-3.5 for optimized.

ADSL 2Mbit
Yurop

CS-Jay 06-24-2004 06:58 PM

Sorry guys, I was out drinking downtown (where I work) and came back to the office to get my shit, hit the ole refresh and see some more relpies.

I actually had turned off the caching since my last post. Due to the fact that I am having an issue with cookies, and user management.

So in other words there is no optimization going on. Also the site does require that cookies be enabled to enter. So I think it's time I make a cookies enabled page.

I really thank everyone for looking at the site, and if you have any problems loading please post here. I WILL be at the bar for the next 5 hours (there's nothing like priorities huh?) so I will check the board in the morning or late afternoon.
