Why is it so hard to get a Per signup Lightspeed account...

I signed up.

I had a full background check on me.

I was ICQed and was questioned what sites I will promote.

Last affilate program I promoted "heavly" There rep name. Type of program ect.

Then I get I will get back to you once I talk to "so and so" from that compney.

Shit, You want that much info fuck it. not worth my time to push for 30.00 a signup.

IMO

StuartD 06-24-2004 12:12 AM

This is just my guess... but here's how it seems to me.

That's kinda what they're hoping. I mean, don't take it personally. They're established enough, they know who is going to be most productive for them.

That means that they can afford to be very choosy with whom they have promoting them.

It's a question saturation/competition. Having someone who is very productive is better than having someone who is very productive and someone who isn't. It's weird, but think of it this way... if someone can't convert a surfer to save their life, they could potentially ruin the sale for the person who could have converted that surfer.

The teen niche is one of the biggest, and Lightspeed is one of the ones that does it best... so everyone wants a piece. This screening process is just a way of making sure that it doesn't burn out within days, instead of years.

Sly_RJ 06-24-2004 12:14 AM

Stuart you left out the fraud factor. I would imagine fraud is probably the biggest issue.

That too... thanks. Yeah, sticking with the high producing affiliates that they know and have worked with already for a while... well, that great reduces the fraud risks.

Arousal Design 06-24-2004 12:24 AM

I can understand their concern, i mean when people promote their sites it reflects on them in some way (unfair or not). They probably just want to make sure you're not going ot spam chats or something =)

Validus 06-24-2004 12:29 AM

The quality of traffic and marketing habits of a person also has a direct effect on charge backs. As you can imagine, if you do a mailing, promising something that?s not true, you will get a higher volume of charge backs. A thorough screening of affiliates is in my opinion a smart things to do.

SomeCreep 06-24-2004 12:39 AM

I recently signed up to Lightspeedcash. It took 1 week for my account to be approved (for their regular 60/40 program). It took multiple emails and ICQ messages. All that trouble and I just wanted to read more about Steve's new gallery revshare program.

Correct.
Thats what Steve told me.

fuzebox 06-24-2004 01:11 AM

I got mine in about half an hour today. The process was a bit odd, but as far as I know it's just to avoid fraud/chargebacks.

They said that the 60/40 would be setup asap

Just persignup would take longer.

I don't really mind. I have been pretty flawless with my traffic.

Hense the new sign up process.

the signup process has absolutely nothing to do with that. you can signup and have a revshare account instantly but not a pps. yeah that has something to do with them being afraid to have their shit whored out. yeah right. it's just more bullshit, they didn't really want to do pps, they just wanted to say they were doing it.

all the preaching about how revshare is the best and with a great sponsor revshare makes you more money and how pps is only because they shave you and they want to entice every webmaster but the good ones promote revshare.

bottom line they and everyone else that preaches that was full of shit and they are too with this one at least.

i don't agree with you.
Even when someone sends unproductive traffic, that helps their recognition and increases the number of surfers who will be aware of their sites and eventually type them in their browsers in future and in that case no affiliate will be rewarded , so it's good for Fighspeed Cash :D

DrewKole 06-24-2004 08:41 AM

My guess is, because you're a spammer, and they don't want your traffic.

Atleast, that'd be my reason for not paying you PPS...

SteveLightspeed 06-24-2004 09:53 AM

Well, let me clear up a few errors in the above posts.

First, we are not auto approving ANYONE, not even revshare affiliates. We had to work our way out of $70,000 worth of friendly fraud last year, from REVSHARE affiliates that abused our system.

With the new Visa rules, I think any program that auto-approves affiliates is taking a big risk. It is not our intention of denying a Lightspeedcash account to ANYONE except scammers. Our affiliate manager Louisa is doing her best to screen and approve as many accounts as quickly as possible. She works over 40 hours a week every week. But "fuck Lightspeed" if I can't make her approve your account at 3am on Saturday morning!

We try to verify phone numbers and icq, and if you want PPS, I don't think its too much to ask for references. When people give us a hotmail email address, no phone number, no icq, a post office box, and the domain they list either doesn't exist or is registered at 123 Anywhere street Anytown USA --- you get the idea --- If you are hiding, it makes us wonder why.

If you promoted any program in the past that suddenly went POOF out of business, you should appreciate our extra efforts to avoid problems and keep your Lightspeedcash checks coming!

Our contact info is listed on the front page of Lightspeedcash.com -- if you feel you've been unfairly treated, I apologize and I hope you can understand why we feel these steps are necessary.

Thank you for you continued support of Lightspeedcash

Spam me with Sponsors!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd like to find someone who will recruit hot new 18 year old girls that are willing to model nude, then pay her and take her pictures, then update her website regularly and host it on a super reliable, ultrafast server. Also, you'll need to buy lots of extra picture and video content so I won't lose a paying membership too soon.

I'd also like you to cover all the legal expenses, processing costs, and pay the visa registration fees.

I'd like you to provide full page ads, banners (odd-sizes work best for me), and maybe even agree to pay my hosting bill. And I'll need lots of free content. Not the same free content you give everyone, I need new exclusive content. I'll need hosted picture and movie galleries too, on a fast server. But don't put too many ads on them, my surfers don't like ads.

I'd like you to throw huge parties where I can drink myself silly, while I oggle your hot girls and generally make an ass of myself. I'm gonna need a rug to put out my cigarette on. I want you to take me to strip clubs, and I want you to buy me lapdances all night long. If I host a convention, I'll expect you to sponsor it (and if there aren't enough naked chicks, I'm going to tell everyone it was a sausage fest!)

I'll need you to buy a banner spot and post regularly on my message board.

I want you to do all that for no more than 40% of the net revenue that her site generates. I might even ask you to prepay me even if I can't get her site to convert. And you can pay me by check, but I tend to lose them, so you'll need to be willing to re-issue the ones I lose. But going to the bank is such a hassle, could I just have a wire instead? You'll need to eat the wire fees.

Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention that I'm going to accuse you of shaving and cheating if I can't convert any traffic at 1:500 or better. If you are a day late on my payment, I will publicly crucify you. And I'm gonna need a constant supply of new sites from you, I get tired of looking at one after a couple weeks.

And you better not take a day off, if I try to icq you and you are not there within a few minutes, I'm dropping my links! And no matter how few sales I send, I expect you to drop everything and talk to me as long as I want. I'll need lots of advice and support, you don't mind do you?

I want reward points and christmas cards are nice too. Fly me to a convention and pay for my room. But it better be a suite, I need space. Give me bonuses and prizes. And hookers, lots of 'em!

Don't forget I'll also need a non-expiring password to your sites too for "educational" purposes. When I promote your site, I want to be able to say anything to the surfer to make a sale, I don't care if its true or not, pleasing the surfer is your problem.

I'm gonna need a cool baseball jersey customized with my name and favorite number on the back...

And no matter what you do for me, I might just decide to try someone else's program for a while, cuz you are probably making too much money anyway on typeins and upsells... And if you get someone else pushing your sites, I'm going to drop you completely, because then you'll be "over saturated".

Oh yeah, and you are gonna need lots of sites, and I want to be paid on sales to all of them from your exits. Better yet, I'll require no-console linking codes, cuz I hate popups. But don't even think about paying me less for my joins.

You'll need to join the lawsuit against Acacia, I don't care how much it costs. But if you settle, I'll tear you apart on the boards and recommend that everyone boycotts you.

And I want to lump you in with all the scammers and scumballs that have ever made money on the net. I don't care if you are honest, I have to blame someone for a bad week, and its gonna be you.

Oh yeah, and for your 40%, I want to be able to break my promises anytime, I really don't want you to be able to rely on me. I'll send you traffic when I fucking feel like it. But if you break one of YOUR promises to me, I'll drop you and move on.

Any takers?

Steve you definately have copying down to a science.

We could sell you the software, and teah ya'll how to use it.

You think paying per signup is tough with $20 trials, you should try doing it on $1 and FREE trials.

There are lots of scumbags in tis business who spend all theri free time trying to figure out how to rip programs off. This hurts everyone in the industry.

Truly a classic!
thanks

corvette 06-24-2004 10:42 AM

In my personal opinion, for the prudent webmaster, I would certainly not encourage an ?open door? affiliate signup policy?

This is an industry where it only takes 1 day or less of traffic from a fraudulent affiliate to send you 100+ chargebacks, not to mention non-productive traffic that the program owner is forced to pay out on.

By filtering out the affiliates he accepts, yes it is going to bring down his ?affiliate signup? throughput; however, if you want to encourage strong, profitable traffic, this is the smart move. Rather than focus on affiliate quantity, Steve is looking for quality.

Something not to be chastised about
