Photoshop...A load of crap
 

Could anyone reccomend a simple image editor?
Photoshop crashes my browser, takes hours to load, and is just
basicaly CRAP!

I still have Deluxe Paint II Enhanced here somewhere.. Always loved that thing. It could even handle MCGA 256 colors.
Even made a TSR with an INT 9 handler to capture raw image data. woohoo.

amjo, seriously. The computer I'm talking about is a crappy celeron that was FREE with purchase of a nice laptop that I wanted. It couldnt barely load photoshop with it's 128mb of ram.
I put in 2 512mb chips and it makes all the difference in the world.

Also, if your computer is old and hard drive fragmented, then defrag it. That'll give you larger contiguous blocks of disk space for the swap file and might help a little in the meantime.

Wow, do upgrade you computer. I find Photoshop to be really resource friendly. Maya for example is a resource demanding application, or XSI, but not Photoshop. Maybe a re-install of your system would help? What are your system specs?

You need to update your PC if you can't load and run Photoshop easily.

buying computers like thta is your main problem. I build my own computers. This way I know exactly what goes in it and that it's not shit.

I use IrfanView for simple photomanipulation. It's not a substitute for PS, but it works for the basics.

I also agree that you probably need a new pc. However, if you're frustrated with Photoshop...try Fireworks.

MSPaint -- I heard it's better than Photoshop.

Try Paint Shop Pro. Try to find version 4, it doesn't have too many features.
