However the only Gay band in that list is Erasure and DM.

DM and Erasure (of course there is a band member connection here) were doing stuff that anyone into techno, etc today should recognize as an influence. Not to mention that DM's lyrics are just some of the best - EVER. Same thing with the Cure. DM and The Cure are nearly enough to seduce me alone.
