I recalled this from a 20/20 segment I saw on the topic probably 15 years ago. This goes without saying, but I've passed on the mints and toothpicks ever since.

I would never eat a mint from a restaurant anyways, so that doesn't bother me so much.

It's touching the handle on the inside of the bathroom door that grosses me out. Because EVERYONE that didn't wash their hands touched it.

Yeah really.. you're supposed to wash and dry your hands, then open the door with the towel, THEN throw the towel away.
Then piss in the mint tray :1orglaugh

The pipes under the bathroom that carry the urine but are still on restaurant property.

Urine is sterile. Probably cleaner than most water you drink in large cities.
