I heard that you must have your own inhouse server and like a T1 or T3 line? anyone know what it takes?

nope.. u can stream from ur line to a box to push the feed out to others and it also depends what type of format you want to do.

if you want a simple camshow upload ftp thingie no, if you want streaming and not stampsize yes you need a fast connection but 128kb works most of the times, just make sure your ded server can handle all the requests

i upload my stream and the quality is amazing and really thats all i need because once my stream hits the server its the servers speed that is going to be pushing it out to the others...

as long as your server can handle X amount of people streaming off it things should be fine..

I have used the helix server before (real media) but lots of people do not have it i found and dont want to install it.. i like windows media stream or the flash stream (0-1 second delay max)

well a simple p3 with a campushing prg and a java applet will do then, get a chat or even better something like parachat so you dont have to worry bout crashing your box, get webcam32 or alike and its setup in 10 mins and broadcasting...

So to do it right... you do need a T1 or 3 thingy... and what does one of those cost a month?

hrmm with java and stuff its not really streaming.. even with the low refresh.. more that watch more that pull from ur own modem and it will slow down.. unless ur doing a refresh cam.. but thats bit outdated...

grrr lol whats with people thinking they need a T1 or T3 line.. i have a cable modem and i stream full audio/video fine...

like jenn said you need a fast server to handle all the requests, take a look at gfy for some hosts and get a decent ded server with linux and dont forget to ask for any pre-installed software some are already with Real some with Windows, dont forget to ask Real costs over 1500 if you need to buy it... the other software is cheap maybe like 100 all together and a decent CCD cam another 100 with tripod like 150,

but : how many visitors are we looking at ? 10 ? 500 ? 10000? that will make the price...

i gotta do some stuff but hit me up on icq 99897702 and i can show u the quality of the stream and give u some prices what i pay...

and im on a cable modem.. i just have a provider that pushes the stream out to people...

also keep away from real producer (helix server) for media..

true then again we had some girls who had dailup so upload was the only solution it sucks i know still its way better then streams that get frozen all the freakin time... glad youre on streaming :)

if ur putting a model up to do a camshow on dialup spend the 30 bucks more for cable..

refresh cams are ok for 24/7 things and nightvision and so forth to let ur viewers be voyeurs.. but for shows refresh is like watching porn on a scrambled station.. its just annoying :)
