*@&$ Free server 404 pages
 

Lightining, I HATE your 404 page. Do you know what a pain it is to get though checking about 30 sites and then get to one that is on your free server but it ends up a 404? Your GOD DAMN pop ups crash by fucking browser every fucking time. Then there is I think Smutserver, that damn 404 is just as bad with it's pop-ups. No wonder so many TGP's blacklist anything from your servers. There is no need for that shit. I can understand putting a ton of links on the page, but can't you guys kill the pop up crap?

If you hit a 404 page just close the windows with Alt f-4 http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif
You can close them faster then they can load if you hit a site that starts poping lots all at one time

Just dump em and use another host there are lots of nice freehosts around that are not into the same boring old crap. And as for Smutserver (shitserver) are they still having page load problems - hope so http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif

Susan, I am not the one hosting on the freeservers, I run a TGP, when I approve the post, I check the galleries.
As for the alt+f4, I do that, it does not help, my browser still crashes.. That just chaps my ass. I just do not see the purpose behind all the popups. I mean, if that stuff is pissing me off, what do you think the surfer thinks? "Oh boy, popups!! I love popups!! Can't wait to join one of these sites!!" I kind of doubt it. They probably are thinking more on the lines of MOTHER FUCKER, SON OF A BITCH! Another fucking hell hole!

Some may go into overkill, but if popups didn't work, nobody would use them. I see sales from them all the time.

On the one hand, too many popups is overdoing it. They'll want out of your site, and won't take their time to read what a popup has to say (at least thats what I do).

But on the other hand, if its a free site, fuckem. Surfers have to learn that they can't get shit for free. (except on a free scat site. lol)

Eh.... 404 pages are an important part of the freehosting business.. it's the operators chance to give the user whatever they want, since the page they came from pointed to a page that doesn't exist...

Exit69, from the webmasters point of view is what I am reffering to. It is a royal pain in the ass to have that crap happen. If it keeps happening, I am just about ready to ban some free servers just do I don't have to deal with it.

Fuck all that. The Free Hosts are already adding top and bottom banner pages. If those full of blind and misleading pieces of shit are not making them anything then that is their fault. Wasting a guys time with the damb 404 pages is just plain shitty. Expecially when you get blacklisted ask the free host what the deal is. Get Lied to then piss more people off ECT.... I have been screwed myself. And when you start sending mass traffic to your free hosted site people know that something is wrong. Link trades start dissappearing you get nasty e-mails. Just plain stuff I do not need. If they are going to have 404 pages then they should tell us BEFORE we sign up. And if they just start using them then don't lie to us. Oh and yes I did use lightning free. I think I got lightning free banned from a few TGPS after I submitted to them. its kinda sad actually.

It's all a matter of balance, and not to comment on lightning free (cuz I've never used him) free servers do have a tendency to go a tad overboard. They have to make their money somehow, just think they would probably make more money by not totally pissing the surfer off. But then again I've never used one, never ran one so who knows. If I ran a TGP I think I would be very choosy about which I let in though.

OK well I have to give a few words here at this point. First I will agree that the popups are a bit much lately. This is actually not done by us. All Hosts get 404 traffic, from accounts that were deleted for things such as Child Porn, or a large TGP reported them to us for blind linking thumbs or redirecting their galleries after getting listed..etc...
So we must do something with this traffic. So we sell it to exit traffic sponsors, they are the ones that add, and change the chain of pop ups all the time without any thought for the people using them.
I won't argue that it kinda sucks for the surfer, but without utilizing this traffic, the free host would soon go out of business.
