Father's Day Question...
We all get frustrated at times right? I have 2 children, one 8 year old son and a 3 year old daughter. If they are in the same room or within 50 feet or so of each other they fight. Sometimes as parents, you run out of words when you call them down. Sometimes as parents, you end up sounding to yourself like an idiot.
Here is the question: What is the stupidest thing you have ever said to your kids when you were frustrated with them? Mine personally was just the other day. I had asked and asked my kids upstairs to PUHLEEASE stop fighting. Finally, in a final attempt to make them stop I screamed something to this effect up the stairs: "I SWEAR TO GOD IF YOU KIDS DO NOT STOP I AM COMING UP THERE WITH A SWORD!!" I swear I said that lol. And then afterwards I thought to myself, "Damn you just sounded moronic, you don't even have a sword":1orglaugh |

It is really a challenge sometimes. I mean, you don't want to just curse and be an ass so you try to get creative on the fly with your words so they leave the best impact but do the least damage mentally to the child.
They need to distribute a damn handbook with kids in the birthing room. The cute times more than makeup for all the fighting and spilled grape juice on $4000 carpet and poop diapers. The only situation I have been in so far where I nearly really lost it was with my daughter. She thought that at 2 years old it would be real neat to open her poopy diaper in her crib and start fingerpainting. I walked in and it was like that scene in "Dumb and Dumberer" with the chocolate bar. But it wasn't chocolate... |

You'll get through it...and so will your kids...don't worry about damaging their psyches.....once they turn 21, it's their job to fix anything you've done...AND.....you've got a sense of humour....and they know it. I used to tell my son... 'Come here and let me choke the life out of you'. He'd immediately present his neck to my hands. To us, it was a tension reliever. He's twenty and I still say it to him........ |

Its amazing how kids can make even the most sane person, lose thier mind. I only have one kid, he turned 5 in April. He's a real good kid, I guess I got lucky. All it takes to straighten him out is the threat of taking his ice skates away. |
I have a "star" system with my kids.. If they do something exceptionally good, they earn a good star. If they do something exceptionally bad, they earn a "bad" star. 5 good stars and they get to pick a really cool reward. 5 bad stars and they spend the day in their room without toys or tv. I put fighting with siblings and tattling high on the list of "bad" things to do and believe me, it works like a charm. I always thought rewards systems for children work much better than yelling. The less you yell, the more impact has when you DO raise your voice. Then they know you mean business :)

My ex uses this one and it works the best.
