I feel another "Africa is a shithole" thread coming on.

I liked it when the front page of the BBC "World Edition" had "Possible New Photos of U.S. Abuse" (keyword: POSSIBLE) as the head story, while "600 Massacred in Sudan" was tucked off in the plain text links on the bottom between a story about synthetic mouse testicles and how teens are using blogs to make their opinions known.

What do you think is going to happen to the Middle East when all the oil is dry?

Same shit that's going down in Africa. They'll fight amongst themselves, and die in poverty. And the rest of the world won't care.

Not sure whats going on in Africa, but it's obvious that at lleast 10x more people have to die there to be reported on the news.

Monty Python summed it up best with their "news" skit, which i cant find a direct quote for but goes somehting liek this:

"..and 30 peopel were killed in a bus crash but that doesnt matter because noone was english"

It amazes me that some of Africa's poorest countries also have some of the world's best resourses yet no one is willing to try brokering peace in these regions & develop these areas into something benificial for those living there.

Equatorial Guinea likely has enough oil to make Nigeria look like small potatos, and the U.S. could have run that government out faster than it did in Iraq. :)

And when it comes to the news, since 9/11 you won't find anything about Africa unless its about terrorism and how it affects the U.S. otherwise, its a non-event. :(
