Missouri bans sexy billboards along state highways

"Missouri bans sexy billboards along state highways
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) ? The Show Me State is cracking down on bawdy billboards. Gov. Bob Holden on Thursday signed a bill banning sexually suggestive billboards that promote strip clubs and other adult businesses. The ban applies within one mile of Missouri highways.
Some billboards in Missouri portray scantily clad women and read "Live Nude" or "Red Hot Nude."

"We have the right to drive the highways of this state without children being assaulted by these images," Holden said. "

Maybe we should divide up the country into those who like sex and those who don't.

No, what we really need is another civil war. Doesn't the south realize that their redneck asses lost? We need to treat them just as they treat their red-headed step child.

MiSsBeHeaDReSs 06-19-2004 03:08 PM

yet you can carry a weapon anywhere you want in Missouri, concealed or otherwise...hmmm

Well, if we start one there needs to be a safe meeting spot for open minded people to go during the mass destruction that will ensue.

It's been a year, give them time they'll find the weapons. Saddam was able to hide 14 russian migs, probably the size of your trailor, buried in the sand for 12 years without us finding them. He had months to hide the weapons before we attacked Iraq, which is about the size of California and is virtually all desert. Why don't you grab a shovel and see how long it takes you, douchebag? It's called patience.

when some of you are old enough, and have children, and begin to live middle class lives (or better) you will understand that this is reasonable.

people need to understand that the foisting of erotica upon people who do not want it is not cool.

and when you grow up, and live in very nice surroundings you do not want anything tawdry entering your mindset.

internet smut is conveyed in the privacy of one's home---it does not affect property values.

a highway billboard advertising a deja vu strip club or the latest sex toys at the next exit can have a negative effect on property values.

this is the truth, and i am not a prude.

I live in MO. Sounds like election year bull to me. Maybe Holden should take a trip to NY or CA... :helpme

Man you'd have a hard time finding these offensive Billboards here!! They are NOT all over the place and we don't need another law.

While we're at it, could we stop the Bible thumbers from waking me up on Saturday morning or stuffing things in my door...

We don't have strip clubs on the St. Louis side of the state. Ya have to go to Illinois for that. Thank god for Illinois!

irishfury 06-19-2004 06:19 PM

I have traveled from kansas city to st. louis on I-70 many, many times. The majority of adult billboards are all text, no pictures in the middle of nowhere. :2 cents:

jukeboxfrank 06-19-2004 07:47 PM

funny I am sure the local governments don't mind getting the tax dollars from the clubs ha....

Tom_PMs 06-19-2004 07:53 PM
