Do you get heartburn?
I want my doctor to switch me from generic Prilosec to that new medication Nexium. I didn't go to the doctors yet I have an appointment coming up. Even taking Prilosec twice daily now doesn't stop my constant heartburn and if I drink alchohol.. forget about it.

that doesn't sound good bro :(

if you have heartburn this frequently, is there an underlying anatomical abnormality that can surgically be treated?

i get heartburn too much. man it sucks

I do. This is just new to me in the last year and a half. Prilosec keeps it in check and I keep pepcid, zantac..etc with me all the time. I went to the movies a month ago and had to leave, thought I was having a heart attack. I have to watch what I eat closely. I'm trying to do everything right to keep it from happening.
My uncle just had the surgery 2 weeks ago. He's finally able to eat again and it is better. I hope your doctor will help you out. It's terrible pain . |

Sounds like you have Barrett's Disease.
See a good specialist. They will either give you nexium or prevacid. Both will stop your heartburn totally. Problem with over the counter prilosec is its weeker and you don't know what dosage you should be taking. |
pepcids and tums do the job for me..
|
i only get heartburn when i drink red wine or margaritta's, so i keep zantac with me when i go out drinking..
*i've never seen a doc for it :2 cents: |

Yeah.. I've get heartburn all the time. Right now with the constant acid and my annual chest clog from allergies I am one miserable mother fucker.

Try mixing a tablespoon of bicarbonate of soda with approx a wine glass of water, make sure you neck it straight back, this will bring up any excess wind, if not try again in 15 mins, this is a much more effective and faster remedy than over the counter ones.

I have tried both Prilosec and Nexium but nether seem to work as well as Prevacid. Ever since I went on Prevacid a few years ago I rarely if ever get heartburn anymore.
