I made my mom cry today...
I told her I loved her. The last time I said that was 6 years ago when I was dying of pnemonia.
Funny how when you're growing up you hate your parents and think they're terrible. Then when you get older you meet others and learn of their childhood, only to learn what terrible parents really are. Turns out I had and HAVE fucking awesome parents and they deserve some credit. Fathers Day is coming up. Don't forget to call your old man, even if it's just to say hi. Life is too short. Enjoy every day, even the tough ones. :) |

I know what you mean man..when I was younger I use to take everything for granted, especially being fortunate enough to have a somewhat priveledged life. I got a serious wake-up call 6 years ago when my mother was diagnosed with malignant cancer in both breasts. Fortunately, she is in remission now and been doing ok thank god. I made sure she knew exactly what she meant to me and how much I loved her every single day since then.

I kinda have the opposite experiance
I had alcoholic parents that got off on telling me how useless I was, never gonna be anything, stupid, pick up whatever was handy to hit me with, etc etc. I just thought thats how it was. Then after I had my own kid, it opened my eyes to how fuckin horrible they were. I could never treat my kid that way. My stepdad died three days before i got out of the army, and I've permanantly written my mom off of my contact list as of 2 years ago. Funny how life works out. |
Sly...I have had the same epiphany lately about my grandparents. I'm old enough to really be interested in hearing the old stories and such and now its too late. =(
That reminds me. I need to send my daddy a card. Thanks! |

I definitely take things for granted, and I'm lucky that I was raised in an upper-class home (both my parents lived in dirt-poor conditions). I can say that I'm too young to understand and appreciate my parent's care. With age comes wisdom, I guess. I'll learn. |
My boys tell me on almost a daily basis. One thing I will miss when they move out on their own.
|
I gotta tell my parents "I love you", with these words, again. I'm going to visit them next week :) I won't forget to tell my grandmothers too. I love them so much.
Distance sucks. |
maybe im young, but i dont see the need in telling my parents "i love you" - its sort of uncomfortable other families can say it with plenty of comfort.
however, they know - we all know there is love for each other. its just an unspoken thing. so for all of you saying you wish you could've said it more, don't dwell on it - cause trust me, unless you signed off on them and don't talk to each other period, they already knew you loved them. even if you only speak to them twice a year, they still know u love them. people have different ways of showing, thats all. blood is blood. |
Sly has cussed out his grandfather and made his mother cry and the week's not even over. :thumbsup
My son and I always tell each other "I love you". Ditto my Dad, Mom, siblings, friends, etc. I know this sounds really morbid but I hear so many people who unexpectedly lose loved ones say "I wish I had said I loved them the last time we talked.". I don't ever want to have to say that. |
can someone give me a hug:(
