Paysite owners - Do your surfers ever download the 56k video?
I have 3 versions of my videos, wmv56k, wmv500k and mpeg 1000k
no one ever downloads the 56k....maybe once or twice, but never again do you think surfers would hate meall together if I just gave them one dvd quality version of a video? and to further, what if I gave them one version, and not broken up...all one file... discuss please... |
that is what I thought, everyone here is surfers and no one run s a paysite...LOL
come on! |
I would go for one full video in one file and one broken up
|
I ussually give two speeds of movies. Break them into pieces as well as offer the full scene in one file.
|
do you all still do mpeg's? i haven't for quite some time, i have just been using wmv's
|
i've 56k wmvs and full mpgs for broadband
most ppl using the full movies... |

As I get better working with WMV I am sure I will slowly move more that direction. But I will be gawd damned if I do not get alot of Mac users who always bitch me out if there is not a mpeg version. |
yeah, the mac people bitch cause microsoft doesn't ever update their shit
so, i am going to do high and low in wmv and an mpeg for the mac users.....single files and broken up on each ug, work work work! |
i would give them both options
|
We;ve got both at our http://www.facialabuse.com site and we do see some traffic to the 56k version. It seems more of the 56kers opt for the smaller clips though where we cut the video into 15 or more pieces.

Unless you're using some weird ass application to encode your content, embedded Windows Media works perfectly fine on PC and Mac . Just make sure your members download the latest version of the player. It's a shame the full screen option doesn't work on the Mac however.
On our paysites we offer WMV, QT and Real in 300K & 700K. Nobody ever asks for a 56k version. The WMV 700K versions get most traffic (90%). We're considering dropping all formats except for Windows Media, as everyone can use that. Going with Windows Media also provides a sensible road to implementing DRM. |

what i did was simply write a nice topic for it in our FAQ section with links to the latest players, codecs, ... I had mac users msg me... I forwarded them to the url and the problem was always solved. Its really no biggie. |

They get frustrated when they want something, just paid for it and then it doesn't work. Getting a reply from certain help desks can take up to 72 hours too (some don't even reply). No wonder they want their money back.
We're really putting efforts into the support and providing live support as often as possible or guaranteed help within 6 hours. It's proved to be a big part of our success so far. Suggest you do the same folks. Can't go wrong with excellent customer support and care. :thumbsup |
