Alltopnotch 06-15-2004 10:33 PM

i heard it was like 3 hours...fuck that...

gutter 06-15-2004 10:34 PM

i didn't like it...probably only because i had just read the Iliad and I feel that they totally butchered the epic. coudlnt even get Achilles' hair color right :(((

gutter 06-15-2004 10:43 PM

reynold 06-15-2004 11:26 PM

I've seen it too and think it's really nice.

Steve 06-15-2004 11:38 PM

it wasn't a screen version of the Illiad

so dont expect to see the God Ares fight on the battlefield

gutter 06-15-2004 11:40 PM

i was dissapointed Menelaus was killed, and that Helen ended up with Paris. How are they going to make the Odyssey now? (Telemachus visits Menelaus and Helen on his boat trip)

avion 06-16-2004 12:06 AM

hey Jenn,
hit me up on ICQ:162282840 when you are available to discuss this tour...

oh and 'bout Troy - was better than I expected :)

nofx 06-16-2004 12:16 AM

I saw it 2 weekends ago and I liked it. the best part is the fight scene between Hector and Achilles and when that Hector gets dragged behind that chariot:thumbsup

Gunni 06-16-2004 12:28 AM

Just as a movie it was good, but not when it was supposed to be based on the Iliad. Lot of changes, no mention of the fact that Achilles was invinsible because a witch dipped him in a pot of magic potion but only the heel got left out. And in the book, the cousin that Hector killed was actually Acilles' lover :glugglug

Nice movie!

It was Obelix, from asterix who fell into a magic potion. Achilles was dipped into a river.

Sorry but the movie sucked big time. Brad Pitt's butt doesn't make it a good movie but you being a girl - I can understand it :winkwink:

Yes, you are right, been a long time since I read it :)
Anyway, he got dipped in the river and because she held him by the heel it was the only part of him that could be injured, but you know the story :glugglug

Brad Pitts 'leg-double' was a bodybuilder dude that actually broke his leg during the filming of Troy. He ironically died at the hospital sue to complications during surgery. Maybe Achilles' ghost cursed this film and that guy................

Shannon G 06-16-2004 03:15 PM

We just saw it too... I loved it and I can never sit through a long movie.

Actually, the beginning was sorta slow, but the second half was great... and it was one of those movies that I liked even better after I got home and let it sink in.

we'll buy the dvd.

Cheers! :glugglug
